I was extremely skeptical before buying this but also desperate. I built my house in the middle of a field and have mice in my house every winter. These last two years have been horrible. This year after setting up six traps in my basement and garage, and five days straight of catching mice in them, I ordered this product. It’s been three weeks since I first used it and the weather has gotten even colder since. I sprayed my garage door openings, the wood surrounding the Jams, the concrete, all around the outside of my house including the mulch and about three inches of the brick and door openings. I also found each of my garage doors have openings big enough by the sensors to fit a large rat through which I sprayed very well. I then sprayed the insulation in my basement that was placed between the top of the basement wall and the upstairs floor including the wood. I left all of my mouse traps in the same places and have not had one mouse back into my house since the first time I sprayed. Today I went back and re-sprayed my basement since it needs to be done every 4 weeks and it is extremely cold today. It does smell pretty strong like cloves with a slight hint of garlic but it is only strong in the home for about 2 days and then you don’t smell it anymore. It’s so worth it to me, it’s not a harsh chemical smell and it’s safe for my dog. And it actually works. My house is a 2600 sq ft colonial with an additional 1500 sq ft basement and I was able to give it a really good spray everywhere, probably more than needed, and my garage again today with one giant jug of this. Luckily I bought two so I have one full jug left that will probably last me until spring bc I don’t plan on soaking the outside of my house again until spring. Disclaimer: I use this because I live in a row home, so many of the pests I experience are due to migration from house to house, not my own cleaning habits. pick up some of this stuff due to the good reviews after spotting a little critter and I haven't gone back! Easy of Use: 5/5 The bottle is very easy to activate, twist the knob to open, open the ward and remove the tab. It is battery operated so it shoots farther so be prepared to change the battery after a while if you don't use it diligently. You can also use this spray inside and outside. Scent: 5/5 The spray is said to be okay for pets, I don't have any pets so I'm not sure how true that claim is. The scent is not overwhelming or a bad smell at all it's very minty but not overly strong as to where if you spray it inside you won't be able to stay in. Value: 5/5 For my needs this product works, not having to deal with putting traps around every week or having to worry about walking downstairs in the middle of the night and seeing creatures running around in my kitchen is a game-changer. i must say if you're a very messy person and think this will work in tandem with your messy habits it may not. I used this repellent outside the building, in conjunction with TomCat glue traps inside. Together, they did excellent job. However, the repellent does have an unpleasant, sour, oregano-like scent. It wore down after a few days, especially after the rain, but the first day the scent was very strong.

    • Nothing’s Perfect, But This Is Close!

I have an 1890 Victorian in a relatively wooded area, so you know the mice come a-callin’ in the fall and winter. I moved in last year too late to do a true pre-fall prevention spray; caught a couple mice in the pantry/basement; applied the spray both around the exterior of the house’s foundation and inside the basement after that, and only had one or two more “visitors” for the rest of the winter. Like the Hotel California, they can check in, but they can never leave (alive)—if the Tom Cat Rodent Deterrent Spray doesn’t keep them out of the house, the Tom Cat “jaw” traps don’t let them get far once in. Using both has been my tried-and-true combo for a successful mouse-unfriendly home; this year, I applied a very liberal pre-fall spray before it started dropping below 40° and the peanut butter-baited traps that attract mice like nothing else haven’t caught anything thus far. I can still smell the spray as I walk around the exterior of my house—if my nose is catching it, I can only imagine how overwhelming it is for the little beasties and it’s no wonder why they’ve apparently moved on to easier, greener basement pastures. I’ve bought this spray for my mom, whose house has a much worse mouse problem, and recommended it to my neighbors as well—though part of me perversely hopes not all of them are using it so other homes are more appealing to mice in the area than mine! ... show more

Easy to use and had a week of no rat activities. Kept the traps set and caught two. It does the job to repel but if you have them nesting under the house it won’t drive them out completely. Good to sue before cold weather

Subtle smell, much easier on the nose than the essential peppermint oil I started with, and is a good amount, enough for a few applications. Sprayed the foundation outside, and also the outside facing baseboards in the house on the first floor. Will do tomorrow again, as it has been about a month, and I want the smell to dissipate over the next few days.
