I purchased these lights previously and they work well. Easy to put together and they offer a pleasant visual of a flickering flame without the heat. We live next to a large retention pond on a golf course so it does serve as a nice compliment. Neighbors have commented positively on the lights.

I’ve had these Tomcare solar lights for 2 years now, and 3 of the 4 are still working normally. The 4th has a problem with the switch, where it won’t stay on; if you physically hold the button down, it will light up, but as soon as you let go, it turns off. I’m guessing something mechanical in the button, that locks the switch in the on position, has broken. Too bad because the light still works, otherwise. I’m tempted to open it up, to see if I can find a way to permanently complete the circuit, since I never turn these off, anyway. The lights are very nice, with a very realistic appearing “dancing flame.” I wish they were a little brighter, though, as they don’t cast light on the surrounding environment like a real flame; in the dark, you kind of only see the lights, without much of a surrounding glow. Another improvement would be to add a randomizer to the dancing pattern, as if you stare at the lights for a few seconds, you’ll begin to notice the repeating pattern of the flicker. These are the best LED torch lights I’ve found so far, and may buy another set, although the long term durability is a question. Tomcare, if you’re listening, here’s a suggestion that would take your lights to the next level: incorporate an ultrasonic mister in the top of the unit, with up firing LEDs. This would create a realistic glow and smoke effect to complete the realism! On party nights, the user would just add some distilled water to “fuel” the effect. Only downside is that the solar panel would need to be relocated, perhaps to an external unit with a larger battery. ... show more

Quite impressed with the on time after dark when in full sun during the day. Even cloudy days often manage to recharge enough to keep the light on for 10-12 hours after dark. These look great but do not give off a lot of light. They work for me.
