These blackouts really get the job done! These portable blackout curtains don't require drilling a hole on the wall and if I no longer want to use them, I can just remove the velcro without any damage. The problem I've had with this and other similar products is that the adhesion isn't really the best when you take into account the heat that melts the adhesive off the window and renders it obsolete. I had to pick up separate velcro with stronger adhesive power to make this work and it has worked great ever since. That being said, I think this product definitely has the potential to be great if it included better quality velcro adhesives. ... show more

I got these blackout blinds for my baby's nursery. We already had blackout curtains hung up, but light was leaking out around the edges of the curtains and I wanted the room a little darker. I am impressed with these blackout blinds. If you can get the edges lined up perfectly, they do not let any light through. The installation concept is simple - measure and cut the blinds to the size of your window, then stick one of each pair of Velcro pads onto the window glass and the other onto the silver side of the blind, then attach the Velcro pad pairs together, and voila. In practice it is time-consuming to measure the window, pull the blinds apart (they are stuck silver-sides together), cut the blinds down to the right size, stick the Velcro pads onto the windows, and try to line up the blinds perfectly against the window glass to get the other partner of the pair of Velcro pads stuck to the right spot on the blinds. I did not account for half of the window sticking out farther than the other half, so I ended up cutting the blinds a tad too small, and thus was not able to completely cover the entire window, so as you can see from my pictures, some light is getting through around the edges of the blinds. This item comes with a large amount of blinds material, so I do have enough material to try and cut again, but I think this serves my purposes for now. I am a little concerned about the permanence of the sticky Velcro pads. The adhesive was strong, so I am worried that they may be stuck on the window forever, or may be extremely difficult to remove. ... show more

What I had ordered from this listing was a blackout cloth option, not the blinds. The cloth is unbelievably thin and opaque! My first picture shows the two sides of the cloth, silver and black. The cloth feels like plastic and is thin, as thin as a sheet of paper. The kit comes with a marker, tape measure, and a bunch of double sided tape. I took my strongest flashlight, which is very bright and put it against the cloth. I can't see ANY light coming through. Any! Unbelievable. I you use the provided double sided tape, you can attach this to the window tightly and have no light come through. I used tension rods for attaching this to two windows. It came out OK and I was able to make a pretty tight installation. Overall, the blackout cloth is a solid 4 star product. It's light, easy to handle, easy to cut, and easy to install. And works fantastically well as a light blocker. I'm keeping 1 star off because I don't know how well it will last, being exposed to UV. ... show more
