It's fairly portable while going on fishing trips by collapsing the handle through a sleeve that locks it into place. It does come with a mounting clip to hang it on your bag, belt or the waist of your pants/shorts. The netting is rubberized coated to protect fish's scales during a catch and release. The handle has a decent grip to it being EVA foam. The thing about EVA foam is that you can't keep it under sunlight too long or else it will turn the surface of the grip a hint of powder. It does come with a lanyard with a carabiner at the end just to make sure you won't lose the net. The hinge part needs to be filed down. There are burrs to the inserted pin for the hinge and that has a potential to cut your line if you're not careful. Mine has a pin that jutted out about a 1/16" so I punched it in a bit deeper, filed the burrs down, and touched up painted the marks. See the images to know what I mean. I have sworn off traditional landing nets in lieu of the rubberized so it doesn't hurt the fish. This is a great landing net and I recommend to anyone who is looking for one.

This is a nice rubber coated net. Small, compact, and easily transportable. One nice thing is that for a smaller net it's impressively deep. I recommend making sure the net hangs and is used against the foldable handle, not with the bend. This net will get plenty of use this summer we will see how it holds up..... ... show more

    • Nice compromise between size and portability
This is a nice medium size landing net. Larger than the typical trout hand style net with longer reach, but the folding handle with belt clip makes it easy to carry. I use this for canal fishing where I can attach it folded to my tackle backpack, and take advantage of the extended length for reaching down to net fish well below my feet. This net will be perfect for fishing from the canoe. It folds down so it's easy to store in a small boat. It has the rubber/silicone covered netting to help with removing fish and hooks. It's not super huge, but for taking hiking, camping, or in a canoe it's a great size. I with the pole was a little sturdier, but overall I'm happy with this net. ... show more

I have been fishing a fair bit this winter, and wanted a better net than the nylon net I currently have. Came across this folding net and placed an order. This net folds up but only fold at the arm rather than the entire opening of the net. The rubber netting is also a huge plus it doesn't tangle and get wrapped up around the fish, making it easier to remove hooks from the fish without causing any harm. Has a nice rubber dipped netting material which makes it easier to remove loose tackle, and the net bag is large enough for sizable fish in the 20"+ range. It has a convenient belt hook so you can carry it it folded on your net hand side and you can then quickly snatch it from your side and give it a gentle snap to unfold it (don't want to trash the plastic hinge parts or bend the aluminum handle), it locks into place, ready to net your catch. ... show more
