Description

From the host of the beloved Netflix series Time to Eat and winner of The Great British Baking Show come over 100 time-smart recipes to tackle family mealtime. Nadiya Hussain knows that feeding a family and juggling a full work load can be challenging. Time to Eat solves mealtime on weeknights and busy days with quick and easy recipes that the whole family will love. Nadiya shares all her tips and tricks for making meal prep as simple as possible, including ideas for repurposing leftovers and components of dishes into new recipes, creating second meals to keep in the freezer, and using shortcuts-- like frozen foods--to cut your prep time significantly. In Time to Eat, Nadiya teaches you to make recipes from her hit Netflix show, including Peanut Butter & Jelly Traybake, Instant Noodles, Egg Rolls, and zesty Marmalade Haddock. Each recipe also notes exactly how long it will take to prepare and cook, making planning easy. Helpful icons identify which recipes can be made ahead, which ones are freezer-friendly, and which ones can be easily doubled. Read more

  • Happy and Easy and Gorgeous Meals and Desserts
I love Nadiya’s show! Especially her nifty time savers -- like prep ahead instant noodle meals in a jar and her amazing spice mix preps — and the sometimes use of a jarred or canned product, like potatoes or apples. My fam leans toward organic and low sodium, though, and sometimes get visits from college kids who like vegetarian dishes. We’re empty nesters. Usually, I can try to adapt her recipes but still dream of watching a show or two for busy, retired home cooks or maybe ventures into low carb and sodium. All in all, this is a standout cookbook and helpful to anyone who wants to eat well and do so while saving some time. And you do save time without sacrificing deliciousness. This cookbook / publication is easy to read and follow. I appreciate the appealing photos and that it is not printed in light colored ink that’s harder for those with imperfect eyesight. Highly recommend this one. It routinely gets brought out, along with a Skinny Taste favorite. ... show more

  • Inspired me to bake bread
I admired her on British Baking Show, and found her Netflix show that instructs these recipes. The first one I tried was a rosemary-blue cheese-olive Crown bread. It involved twisting the dough to shape the crown. It was fabulous. I haven't baked bread in decades, and this was not just throw-in-the-loaf. It was fun to make and delicious! Her focus is preparing meals ahead of time as well, and has helped me think of better ways to use my cooking time. She has introduced new spicing as well. I have a lot of cookbooks, but this is the rare one I go back to and get tempted to try another recipe. My husband agrees. Though I no longer have small children at home, she does, and is good at thinking about their tastes and saving the cook's time. Some recipes are printed so you can make a smaller batch without affecting the result and don't have to do the calculations. I recommend the videos for further background. For example, she shows how Marmite is made by going to the producer. I'd no idea it was the recycling of brewing products. She is clear, modest, and warm, so different from some of the patriarchal chefs. I highly recommend this book for you and to give away. ... show more

  • Great content but bad quality book binding.
Love Love this cookbook! Nadiya’s is awesome and her recipes are great! I did not give it 5 stars because the quality of the book binding is not good. The pages are wavy and the glue is not sticking very good. It cracks and pops when you touch it and peels off on the edge. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna unstick in the near future. It was in sale so I just kept it. ... show more

  • Beautiful book
I got this for my wife after discovering Nadiya had her own show on Netflix (after she won the Great British Baking Show). My wife had tried to follow one of her recipes from the Netflix show but because it was presumably aired in the UK first, all her measurements on the show were not exactly American friendly! HOWEVER, the book IS. We have made a few things from the book - she has so many interesting recipes, things that we aren't quite familiar with here in the US, but excited to try or try again. There are lots of breakfast items, not something you see a lot of, and a whole section on "basics" - things like curry paste and spice mixes and even pancake mix that she uses in the full recipes throughout the book. Beautifully photographed and written! ... show more

This collection features wonderful & unusual recipes with many time-saving suggestions for working moms. It does seem best suited to be helpful for younger families.

  • No conversion table needed for US!
I absolutely adore Nadiya. I've loved her on GBBO and followed her countless endeavors since. Time To Eat is such a lovely show so I was excited for this cookbook. Nadiya is as endearing as ever to watch. This book includes every recipe from the show as well as many more. One of my main reasons for wanting to leave this review is for American fans. I bought this book preparing for the recipes to be in the metric measurements. This wasn't a deal breaker for me. I simply planned to print a conversion table out and tape to the inside of the book. However, unlike many of the reviews have stated, my cookbook came with the recipes in US measurements. The only thing I can think is that perhaps the book's initial release was only UK based as Nadiya herself is, but once it was officially released in the US, they made the corrections for the US version. Whatever the reasoning, everything is worked out for the US audience as well now, no conversion tables needed. So if you read those reviews and it was the only thing holding you back from purchasing, rest assured in your purchase now! ... show more
