I originally had a hard time deciding between the Tilta, Polar Pro and smallrig shoulder rigs. I watched many youtube videos and ended up going with this rig for my Sony FX3 video shoots. It allowed me to save money (Polarpro is expensive), and this is extremely easy to setup and get started. The Tilta Lightweight Shoulder Rig has transformed my handheld filming experience. The rig's versatility is unparalleled, thanks to the Dual Manfrotto ARCA Baseplate. This feature allows seamless use of either Manfrotto or ARCA plates, providing great flexibility in my setup. The removable baseplate, compatible with various other plates, enhances this versatility. What truly sets this rig apart is the adjustable velcro shoulder pad, which ensures perfect balance and comfort during long shoots. The extendable rosette arms are a brilliant addition, allowing me to customize the hand grips' length and angle for comfortable operation in multiple positions. Mounting an external monitor is a breeze with the 1/4"-20 thread on the extension arms, a feature that greatly improves my monitoring capabilities. The rig's ability to fold up quickly for transportation, thanks to the 360-degree rotatable rosette bridge, is a huge plus for on-the-go shoots. For the price this is absolutely revolutionary. I do agree that it could have a better way to land on a tripod but it is still doable. There are some quick manfrottos that allow for this rig to attach without taking out the back. I rig an alexa mini on this thing with EVF, beachtek, video assist 12g, map1,2 and top handle, battery plate and 2 batteries, mirage matte and follow focus. No problems whatsoever. Super comfy. light etc. Could it be better? yes. Does the job? absolutely. If you can build a 4d here you can build anything really ... show more

Much easier to setup and configure than rigs I've needed to build piece by piece in past years, and it comes with an awesome case that lets you fold it up most of the rig and then expand it when you're ready to use it.     • nice concept, but not without flaws
Please note that I purchased this on Nov. 16, 2022 directly from Tilta, not Amazon. I generally like the design concept of this product a lot, but it is plagued by a big issue. The promo videos imply that the receiver plate is compatible with Manfrotto 501 quick release plates. I have five of these and NONE of them are held securely on this shoulder rig. Tilta confirmed that the cinch lever on the receiver plate needed to be adjusted and recommended that I send it in for the adjustment. After waiting for 10 weeks to get this resolved, the adjusted receiver plate came back and it still does not hold my Manfrotto plates securely. My solution is to wedge sheets of Post-It on top of the receiver plate to close the gap...very disappointing. Some other frustrating issues: 1. The front arms pivot on a common horizontal bar that can be adjustable laterally. This is a cool idea, but the single tightening screw tends to slip. I fear that over tightening the screw will eventually cause failure, rendering the shoulder rig useless. 2. If you intend to use the carry case, allow time to assemble and disassemble the rig every time you use it. It is a nice, compact system, but not quick to deploy. 3. There is no way to mount the should rig to a tripod via a VCT-14 system. Thus, you need to remove the camera and rig mounted accessories any time you wish to switch from shoulder rig to tripod. 4. There is a single 15mm rod mount, located on the right hand side of the rig, presumably for a follow focus. This seems like a strange placement limitation, and prevents the use of matte boxes that require 2 rod mounting. I see nothing in the design that would prevent having 2 front mounted rods. FWIW, I have a lot of Tilta gear and think it is well built. My hope is that Tilta will do a new version of this with some design changes. ... show more
