I definitely suggest pouring boiling hot water in the thermos and letting it sit for 10 minutes before placing the food inside that’s how I made my daughter rigitoni at 630 am and she said it was still really warm and yummy at 1130 so i would say for kids this is a perfect size it’s not to big and fits a kids size lunch inside The spoon it came with was small but perfect size for kids It didn’t leak for us at all and was super easy to clean I put it on the top rack of the dishwasher I think the only negative was maybe the size it made her lunchbox bulge alittle and only could fit like a cup of cook rigitoni at most but over all for the price and size it stayed hot and was great ... show more

Packed spaghetti in the thermos for a few hours. When opened to eat, it was barely lukewarm. Also tried it with chicken nuggets. Nuggets were cold by lunchtime. And both times, I had followed the instructions of pouring in boiling water, capping tightly for a few minutes and then filling with hot food.
