It rolls up small enough to carry in a pocket (6.5 x 2.5 inches) and can also be carried inflated, inside of ultralight, frameless daypacks for added support, comfort and versatility on any adventure. Beyond the trail, the seat is also ideal for use on bleachers at sporting events, concerts, and festivals, and offers plenty of warmth with 1.5-inch thick foam that insulates from the ground temperature. Easily adjust the firmness of the Therm-a-Rest Lite Seat with a valve that can be adjusted with one hand. An integrated bungee loop keeps the seat rolled up tight. I'm going to be traveling again soon, and one thing that I notice when I fly that the seats in economy really kill my lower back over a long flight. A little old lady who sat next to me last time brought a seat cushion with her, and it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. So before this trip I set out to find a decent, but easy to carry seat cushion. I landed on this one because it's inflatable, and packs up in a nice small space that won't kill too much of my carry-on capacity. A lot of the options out there, particularly the memory foam options, are way too large. I don't want a seat cushion filling up half my luggage. This... works, more or less. It inflates easily, and when I put it on my office chair (which also isn't the best for my back, I really should talk to them about buying me a new one) it definitely served to pad things better. The problem? It's too small, and I feel like I barely fit on it. If I end up with it in the wrong position, it actually makes things worse. It saves my back by making my legs and my knees hurt. Moving it around, I've managed to improve the situation, but I always have to fuss with it every time I sit down to get it (and myself) in just the right spot. If it were just a few inches larger in both directions, I feel like it would fit the seat better and probably fit me better. Still, for lack of a better option, I'm going to keep it and try it on my flight. It will, at the very least, almost certainly be better than nothing. I am going to look for a better cushion for my office chair though (no need to worry about packing space with that). By the way, one thing that I've found does help, don't over-inflate it. Since it's self-inflating, that means you generally have to push a little air back out after it has inflated. It's a lot more comfortable (in my opinion) with a little less air in it than it is fully inflated. ... show more

This seat cushion is just what I needed. 6 months ago I had injured my hamstring at the Ischial Tuberosity, so was very painful, especially when sitting. This cushion made it possible to actually sit in a chair for more than a minute! I waited to write this review in order to see how much it would help, as well as see how well it would hold up over time. I've been using it daily for about 6 months, and it has held up well. I bought a second one for the seat of my car. Now that I'm so much better, I carry it in my day pack on hikes in the mountains, and so far it has held up well. Also, it insulates the tush when sitting on snow. It has already lasted much longer than the REI brand seat pad, which kept deflating due to a faulty air valve. I was watching an online macro photography video (an English guy, I think), and at one point he whipped out one of these. If I remember right, he used it to kneel on, but also sometimes as a light reflector or background. I thought, that's fantastic! I had sometimes used gardener's knee pads (from OSH), but didn't really find them very convenient. I was already familiar with Therm-a-Rest for backpacking/camping air mattresses, so knew it was likely a quality product. Now I just carry it rolled up in my daypack (has a builtin strap), and quickly inflate it when needed; for kneeling or sitting while photographing wildflowers, mushrooms, etc. The guy had bright orange, but I opted for the bright green. ... show more

I can't speak for everyone. But I'm a partial paraplegic woman. I am fairly able bodied. But had some paralization. I don't have much butt muscle. And traveled from America to Australia. Long floght as you can imagine. So I wanted some extra cushion for the seat. This barely helped. I suggest just buying a soft micro fiver thin blanket. And folding it up to your thickness. And using that instead. Trust me. That did better than this cushion. A cheap thin microfiber blanket works better. This was a bit of a waste of money. It works for a 4 hr flight? 🤷♀️ ... show more

The first time I unrolled the cushion and opened the valve, it didn't seem to inflate much. But a couple of hours later, it had fully inflated. The instructions say you should store it unrolled and with the valve open, which I do. It now inflates within a minute after it's been rolled up for awhile. (You can always put a couple of puffs of breath into it if you're in a hurry.) I bought this cushion because I'm 6'4" tall. The headrests on airline seats hit me between my shoulders, while the lumbar area is curved inward, causing me to slump and get back pain. I use the Therm-a-rest as a back cushion on the plane and it fills in the lower part of the seat quite nicely. I had a different brand cushion that was just an inflatable lumbar pillow, but it was too small to provide the support I needed. Alas, I accidentally left it on the plane and ordered this Therm-a-rest to replace it. To keep from leaving this one on the plane, I also ordered a paracord key ring in bright green. I attach the key ring to the Therm-a-rest's bungee cord. When I use the cushion, I attach the key ring to the outside of my laptop bag. When it's time to get off the plane, the keyring hanging on my bag reminds me to take my cushion with me. Sounds lame, but I obviously need these kinds of reminders. I also use this cushion at home, especially on wooden barrel back kitchen chairs or chair with insufficient back support. ... show more
