These are pretty powerful drops. I have not quite gallon jugs and use only 2 drops after I have cleaned the jug with super hot water. I put the drops in carefully and then fill the jugs with super hot water and then leave it for a couple of days. Putting more than 2 drops makes the water taste chemically. This did ok in my first batch of water preservation. It forms a red cloud in the water, so when we needed to use our stash (due to a house waterline break), we wasted a bit of water cycling to the clear stuff. We did use it to flush the toilets, so not a total waste, but I didn't want to drink it.

I use this to pack up water for storage and follow the directions. It was really easy to use. This is a product that has a long haul game, so I don't really know if it's going to work or not but I assume it does what it says it's going to do. People who are saying "this is just expensive bleach," you may want to read a bleach bottle. This product contains Sodium Hypochlorite. Bleach includes sodium hypochlorite, sodium chloride, sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide, not to mention polyacrylic acid and a polyelectrolyte complex, not to mention fragrance in some varieties.     • Keeps stored water clean. Easy to add to various storage containers.
I thought adding 21 drops (in the case of MY container) was going to be tedious and error prone, but the drops came out readily, uniformly and consistently. I put the bottle in my survival food bucket for future use as well.
