  • Good overview of how to adult.
I really don't like Martha Stewart too much and don't buy her recipe books, but this book I borrowed at the library with the idea in my mind that if I was not able to teach my kids how to take care of themselves for some reason, a manual of some sort would be nice to have around. This book really covers a lot of topics. It's broken up into Organize, Fix and Maintain, Refresh and Embellish, Clean, Launder, Craft and Create, Garden and Grow, Host and Entertain, Enjoy, Cook, Celebrate, Care for Pets. Each topic then covers a wide variety of subcategories ranging from basic adulting skills such as fixing the toilet, buying and storing food, growing a veggie garden, washing your clothes, and removing stains to more advanced skills such as entertaining your kids at home and others for holidays to how to cook. I learned some tricks out of this that were helpful. ... show more

  • A Must for Every Home Library
Martha's books are the state-of-the-art in book publishing. Peerless graphic design and illustration, crisp copy, superior organization and indexing. "The Martha Manual" is no exception. I actually bought this book some years ago in the eBook edition as I was trying to reduce the number of physical books I own, but eBooks never quite measure up to the printed editions. About the only thing that can be said for eBooks is you can take a screen shot of things like checklists to print out more easily than a bound book. If you want to be a book publisher, these books are the gold standard. Aside from providing go-to information, they're just fun to browse through. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Martha Does It, Again!
For those of us who didn't take Home Economics in High School, fear not, Martha Stewart to the rescue! Look, don't think you have to eat the Housekeeping elephant in one bite. Read the entire chapter of contents and write down the ones that strike a nerve, a chord, a whatever. Pick the one that will give you the greatest relief and/or satisfaction, write the date you chose it, and have at it. Once that one is under control, pick the next one and so on. Periodically, pick it up and review the The beauty of the physical book is it does not require batteries or recharging. When you need it, there it is. Finally, recording the dates started will add to your satisfaction. ... show more

  • Book Review
This book has a lot of useful information in it but not as much everyday help as I was looking for. My grandson bought his first home and I had ordered it as a gift for him. It is a very good book of information but just not quit what I was looking for for him.

  • Worthwhile addition to the bookshelf
I really do love Martha, so I fear I may be a little biased. However, this is one of my favorite of her recent releases. It is beautifully photographed and arranged, and, as always, the information is well set out and easy to follow. I like to try new things and this is one of those books that gives me the confidence to do things I may not normally do! If you like Martha and you know and love her brand, then you will like this book too. ... show more
