  • Good info here!
Well organized and very helpful... Chris takes much of the mystery out of growing

  • Amazing beginner book!
Excellent beginner book! Gets you started with just the right amount of detail. Lots of options as well. Already 1 month in and couldn’t be happier with the results.

A friend suggested this book to me as a reference guide. It is super helpful. Great purchase.

  • Excellent for beginners like me
Well written. Easy to follow. I grew one plant that produced better than I expected, and am now growing my second. This book has been a tremendous help. My second plant is about 7 weeks in and looks amazing. I really like the low stress training to increase yield. Highly recommend.

  • I'd hate to see what the first or second edition looks like...
This is a good book for beginners who just want to get started growing asap, without first getting a degree in Botany and Horticulture. I recommend this book to beginners, but they should still be aware that they will need to look up additional information elsewhere if they want to be any good and get even better. The sections on soil and nutrients are sufficient, but you should really do some careful research on other brands and types of soil and nutrients that might work better and actually be easier to use. For nutrients I'm thinking of Earth Dust by The Green Sunshine Company or Mr. B's Green Trees by Norcal Nutrients. For soil I feel that it should always be bought as locally as possible from a reputable garden center that turns over inventory frequently. The longer a bag of soil sits in a warehouse (hint-hint) the more likely it will be to have bugs in it, because healthy fertile soil is a great magnet for a variety of pests that will get in there and lay eggs. The section on Low Stress Training is woefully inadequate, presumably because the author didn't know whether to put it in the book or not. I can't imagine even a beginner saying, "gee I don't really want to significantly increase my yields with a basic technique." You will need to look up more comprehensive and helpful information on Low Stress Training elsewhere, sorry. There's only a basic explanation of what it is and how to do it. The accompanying pictures are no help whatsoever. The sections on topping and pruning are also mostly unhelpful, as are the photos. The section on curing is a minefield of good and bad advice. Boveda packs are controversial at best, and the author is ignorant of the fact that they should NEVER come in contact with your plant. I am opposed to Boveda packs, and have even helped a friend to finish curing his flowers that were going nowhere fast with the recommended 62% rh Boveda packs. Two weeks of additional curing without them gave the flowers more aroma, flavor and potency, and this in a room that had a humidity range below that recommended by the author. Nothing wrong with being an amateur, but if you want to be an amateur for the rest of your life then go with Boveda packs and flex on some online forum about them. You'll have plenty of company. It's probably where the author picked up the tip. Finally the section on trimming isn't really helpful at all, in terms of showing you how to do a good job and providing strategies for enduring the long grind of trimming - muscle aches, clenched hands, fatigue, boredom etc, so you will need to look elsewhere for more schooling on that as well. But you know what? I would still recommend it to a complete beginner. Why? Because the book isn't a huge encyclopedia of poorly organized information that will only get you lost. It leaves out a lot of the distractions that make learning difficult, so you can get started a lot faster and get to that harvest a lot easier. You just need to know that more information/knowledge is required before you get to a point where you are truly appreciating your grow. I also think it should cost more in the $12.99 - $16.99 range for what you are actually getting. ... show more

  • Book is extremely important!
Mr. Grow it has definite knowledge a growing cannabis. My first trial without this book was a failure. Bought the book, bought some expensive seeds and now.....total success. Though I was on the right track when I started out. Just didn't have enough (knowledge). But in his book, he has a list of things that you should have to grow cannabis. e.g. what type of Lights, exhaust fan, circulating fan system, and so on. I had everything that was in his book already. He also has videos on YouTube! I highly recommend buying the book, and watching his YouTube channel. No maybe about it. You will be successful. My hat is off to Mr. Grow it! ... show more

  • The best beginner guide to growing your own medicine.
The book is not too long. This was my favorite part. Most growing books are super thick and intimidating for beginners. This book is accommodating regardless of your level of skill. Would absolutely recommended and plan on buying a bunch and using them as Christmas gifts for my friends and family.
