Description

This updated edition of the best-selling Small Engines and Power Equipment is more than a simple engine repair manual. Designed for the beginner with little or no mechanical experience, this book is a graphically appealing, step-by- step guide that covers all of the most important engine maintenance and repair skills you'll need to keep your equipment running at peak performance. It also shows exactly how to perform mechanical upkeep and repairs on the most common outdoor power implements. With new and improved content for today's motorized equipment, this DIY bible includes engine and mechanical repair plus maintenance instruction for all your outdoor power equipment, including lawn mowers, snow blowers, chain saws, power washers, generators, leaf blowers, rototillers, wood splitters, lawn edgers, and weed whips. With clear how-to photos and detailed diagrams, you'll see exactly what needs to be done. A comprehensive troubleshooting guide helps you define problems and enact solutions. Among the many skills you'll learn are seasonal tune-ups, changing oil, servicing spark plugs, cleaning filters, replacing muffler, servicing the fuel tank, overhauling the carburetor, servicing brakes, inspecting flywheels, replacing the fuel pump, and replacing a rewind cord. With Small Engines and Outdoor Power Equipment 2nd Edition in your library, you won't need to haul the lawn mower off to the repair center and wait a few weeks just because a filter is plugged or the old gas needs to be replaced. This is a book every home-owning, weekend warrior should have a copy of. Read more

  • Works for my purposes
Easy to understand. Good images.

  • Takes you from most basic concepts and works up from there.
Nicely written and illustrated. Starts at a very basic level and moves to more advanced concepts as it continues. The troubleshooting section will be a help to most novice repair persons.

  • Mostly a very good book
All in all this is a very good book IF you are working on a small push mower or weed trimmer. It has good clear photos and is well written. The down side is the book doesn't cover riding mowers. Sure there is a lot of common ground between push mowers and riding mowers but there are differences as well. Still an all around good book to have if you have never tore into an engine in order to fix something. ... show more

  • Great book for beginners.
My wife bought me this for Christmas, but as someone who has been working on small engines for 35 years, it is a bit on the basic side for my needs. That said, it is very well-written and illustrated. If you are just starting out, or if you want to go beyond the "basics", I would absolutely recommend buying this book. It covers theory, proper maintenance, troubleshooting, most basic and some advanced repairs. Great book. ... show more

  • Buy books!!
I'm a female who runs a small lawn care service in Pennsylvania. I had limited knowledge on how to repair/fix most of our equipment. I bought this book to help me without using the Internet. I am now able to repair everything in our arsenal and become the first woman, where I live, to work on small engines for others. Highly recommend any books like this. Knowledge is power ❤️ ... show more

  • Not for the beginner who knows very little about machines.
A great book for someone that knows a little bit about machines. I was hoping to find step by step instructions on cleaning my filters and gas lines so my gummed up machine will start again. But I’m still lost. I’ll pass the book on to my son or grandsons so they can help their dad.
