This is actually a great idea. The concept of having movable pins to wrap your wire with makes complete sense, I just didn't realize that they don't clip into place or catch a magnet plate on the back. Plastic tubing is used on the back side of the pins to hold them in place. I suppose that this would be great if you're working one pattern and you just need a jig but it is pretty rough for experimenting when you are having to remove and replace them repeatedly. I don't see the tubes holding up for that long if a bunch of different patterns is a goal. Maybe buy 20 of them if you're doing production work? The step pliers, however, were perfect and worked exactly as they should. ... show more

The holes drilled for your pins are wider than the shaft, meaning the pins have play when set in place. This becomes notable when applying tension against a wire because it then creates an angle which the wire will try to creep up. The rubber securing tubes help mitigate it some, For the price, you will have a hard time beating it, but don’t expect precision. ... show more

This comes with little plastic tubes you put on the backside of the pegs to keep them in place while you wrap the wire - unfortunately the legs on the plate are NOT tall enough to account for the length of the tubes on the underside. I was able to prop it up and work with it that way (slid in empty wire spools of the same size, one on each side) but this isn't very secure or steady, and without propping it up the plate won't stay put either since it rocks back and forth on the tubing (and I don't want to trim the tubes shorter as then it'd be really difficult to get them back off when I need to move the pegs around). ... show more
