The Aviator Harness is the only bird harness designed to be Safe even for a Flighted Bird. We have the most experience confirmed and tested by over 400,000 birds around the world since 2005. Made in America by skilled Americans. We tried China but found it impossible to obtain the quality necessary to meet our high standards. Our twenty-one production steps, signed off by 13 staff members provides continuous quality control Good for all species of birds up to 40 pounds (18 Kilo) Custom sizes available. Healthy acclimated birds can easily tolerate a wide range of temperatures. Special Design Features The Elastic Safety Leash is PERMANENTLY ATTACHED because a detachable leash is only good until you go outside the house and your inquisitive bird figures out how to remove it. PRECISE Engineering (+-m 5%) of belt and slide prevents the belt from tightening and squeezing your companion when he pulls on the leash while walking and flying. Read more 1/2 of Production Time is Spent on Grooming Material Grooming is everything - No sharp edges - Birds’ skin is ½ as thick as ours and easily scratched. The strap material used to make the Aviator Harness is carefully chosen for a combination of strength and comfort. Welded, not sewn. Many parrots find the stitches attractive and become obsessed with removing them. The Aviator Design eliminates as many distractions as possible. All material is cut and assembled with the Ultrasonic welding process we developed. You will notice there are NO rough edges that can damage a bird's thin skin. Beware of Knockoffs. Imitation is the highest form of flattery and we are very flattered. Most knockoffs are made in China. Approximately half of our production time involves quality control to eliminate all sharp edges that can scratch skin, and very close material tolerance so the belt will not tighten and strangle your bird if it flies. Read more Quality Design and Workmanship The Aviator Harness is made from high-quality nylon strap material and steel parts. Our challenge is to use materials that are strong and damage resistant, but not so heavy or stiff to be dangerous for a bird to wear safely. This topic is covered in more detail in the package and on the video. For 20 years we and hundreds of thousands of other bird owners have tried every safe material we could find. We have even tried every knock of our design and have not found anything better. Suitable materials must be able to be made into a safe harness. Heavy material makes it dangerous to wear and during flight. Some owners use the Aviator every day and when bored some birds do tend to chew on the harness. Eventually a harness can become damaged and may need to be replaced. You can see hundreds of customer’s videos on YouTube showing many techniques to improve your birds’ behavior when wearing The Aviator Harness. Read more Training is Necessary Most parrots are accidentally taught to chew on everything. All their toys and entertainment items are made from materials that are similar to everything else in our homes. The fear of reprimanding and being accused of ‘Negative Reinforcement’ causes even the best parrot parents to fall short of managing this behavior. When it is acceptable to put a bird into a steel cage to control damage, the need to follow through is often lost. Just like we train our dogs, we need to train our birds what is not appropriate to chew on. Everyone is successful at teaching our birds no to chew our clothes, so we know it is possible if we have the right attitude. Work on teaching your bird what it is and is not allowed to chew on This knowledge will extend to the rest of your house. You will be one step closer to maintaining a lifelong friend. Read more

  • Owner thrilled; budgies not so much
Size: XXXS Color: Green
I bought the smallest size for my 2 budgies that we brought home from the pet shop 4 1/2 months ago. Today we received the harness and it was also the last sunny day we were going to get before 2 weeks of straight rain so I decided to give it a go. I chose my sweet, docile bird Sky first. After 2 attempts and 30 minutes, I was able to secure him in. But not without him struggling and biting at the leash and harness. He even bit me several times, something he doesn't do. After I got the harness on Sky, my kids and I took him for a walk. He didn't attempt to fly. Rather he sat on my hand and took in the sights, sounds and smells. He was very calm and peaceful. Neighbors stopped us, cooing at the bird because they never knew birds had harnesses. When we got home, we placed Sky back in his cage and took Sapphire out. He's quite the biter with everyone but me. Except today was different. It was fairly easy to get him in the harness. He did bite me several time and hard at that, like he was trying to draw blood. I remained calm even though it hurt. When we finally got Sapphire outside, he spent most of the time doing acrobatic tricks trying to release himself from the harness. He almost didn't notice the outside world until the last 5 minutes of the walk. He, too, didn't attempt to fly. After we got home, I gave him some millet and he nearly fell asleep on it. I removed the harness and placed him on his perch. He and Sky are sleeping as I type this review. I will definitely buy another one so we can take both of them out... once all this rain stops... *** UPDATE *** I bought a 2nd one and received it yesterday. We took both budgies out since it was a lovely day outside. They both tried to chew the harness and I hope the material is sturdy enough to withstand their chewing. They seemed more calm being together on our walk. In order to get any of the budgies into their harnesses, I pick one of them up gently with a hand towel. I'm already wearing cheap cloth gloves at this point to protect my fingers from getting bitten by a frustrated bird. I place the harness over the head and let the budgie wiggle himself through the neck hole. While he's busy chewing the harness, I gently move each wing through and then I adjust the belt. ... show more

  • Mini xxxs fits the parakeet
Size: XXXS Color: Blue
I am down to one parakeet and I wanted something we could do together. Usually I have a group of parakeets who entertain each other. My parakeets are not handled much and they bite. I watched the video. It took me two different days to be successful to put on the harness. Today was sunny, fall weather. In the video it said to take the bird and do something nice if it is in the harness. I had clipped my bird's wings because it was barking super loud like an ice pick through my head. I wore close fitting garden gloves to start but finished tightening the strap without gloves. It seemed like the strap was tight enough but not too tight. The strap clasp doesn't tighten or loosen super easy so that was safe but also challenging. The bird seemed to enjoy going outside. He rode on my shoulder and didn't poop on me, which shows some respect. He rode in my hand and chewed on my ring but didn't bite too much or draw blood. He tried to hide in the bushes. He got some sun. He met the neighbor and the neighbor dogs. He came inside and somehow we worked together to remove the harness. Overall, super successful adventure for us to socialize with each other. I look forward to trying it again and maybe going on a longer adventure at the park. ... show more

  • Works really well for our cockatiels!
Size: XX-Small Color: Red
Bought a petite red harness for my 8mo cockatiel. Took about 2 weeks of daily conditioning with treats to get her in it, and day three of being in the harness was the charm! She'd totally comfortable with it and loves going outside for walks with us. The big hit for treats was millet, then when she actually got IN it I started giving her cheerios. It's sturdy, and even with her initial fidgeting it was tough enough to keep her from biting it apart, but plenty light enough for her to lift off if she wants to stretch her wings a bit. ... show more

  • I love it. 🧡
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. My cockatoo took really well to this! She is approx 12 years and was my grandfather’s. He passed away 3 months ago so I’ve been so worried about her accepting her new home. She put the harness on with no problem. The first time I took it off immediately because I didn’t want her to be claustrophobic, and I was so surprised we got it on! I looked up how others were doing it on YouTube. The second time we took her outside. When we came back in (because it was getting kind of cold) she took flight in a circle a few times. She seemed so proud of herself! I love it. 🧡 ... show more

  • Amazing Construction and Customer Service!
Size: XX-Small Color: Green
My green cheek conure and I love our new harness! It is very well-built, and after watching the instructional DVD (which is a MUST, no matter how simple you think it will be to harness-train your bird), seems like it'll be very easy to put on/off. This isn't something your bird will take to right away, but if you follow the DVD's instructions on familiarizing your bird with the harness, they'll eventually tolerate it. Within a few days, my GCC actually got excited to see the harness, and associated it with going on adventures outside, which has been such a great experience for both her and myself. This product deserves 5 stars for customer service alone. I received frequent emails about shipping updates, additional information, and a follow-up email making sure I was satisfied (and if I chose the wrong size, they would happily exchange it for the proper one!). Will definitely buy another down the line if need be (realistically, nothing is unbreakable for birds, so I know it will eventually need to be replaced). ... show more
