No coals or ceramic to clean or needed. Works great with thermostat temperature control. Stand is too low, so should have save the $. Easy assembly and cleaning surfaces are good, BUT the assembly wing nuts and bolts coming through bottom surface complicates cleaning since they are almost impossible to clean grease off them so build up will occur and potentially need to be removed and cleaned, meaning bowl base will have to be removed eventually. Damp paper towels or cloth cleans everything better when still warm, not cooled off as instructions state. Wire rack needs non abrasive pad to clean properly. The flat base that holds the electric element needs similar cleaning. The handles that lock the electric element in place is more difficult to clean so I covered them with foil and replace foil as needed.Also, very important, I do not use any marinated sauces anymore because the clean up of the bowl, drip pan, and grill element doubles the clean up time! If you want to BBQ with BBQ sauce or ? I suggest using foil on drip pan and bowl to save clean up time. To clean interior the electric element must be removed, so I didn't connect the bolts that lock it in place to the BBQ or you'd have to remove them every time. It stays in place due to being locked into the flat pan anyway. Regardless of these few issues, I plan in keeping it since it's a great product for the price and may dismount base to take in our RV so we can use while "camping" with our RV generator. ... show more

We were at a campsite with electricity, so I used this grill for some hamburgers . Big mistake as the grease collected in the bottom bowl ,but there is no sliding grease trap to clean it out. You have to take it apart every time to clean it. Makes a huge mess.

Very easy to put together. Like others said, the bolts and nuts are staged in their parts. It was packed well, and instructions are good. It's not a five-hundred-dollar Pit Boss. All in all, it's a nice little light duty grill. But the heating element is only 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the top of the cooking grate. Think about broiling something in your oven with the rack all the way at the top. Your food will not receive even cooking and burn directly over the element unless you sit and move it around. It had a top half grate that moves with the lid. I took it off because when the lid is closed it comes down on top of your food on the bottom grate. I'll not buy ANY other grill with the element this close to the grate. ... show more

The only fault is having to remove heating element to clean it. (Only reason for 4 vs 5 star) The element is held in place by two bolts, 6 washers and two wing nuts. Phew. I decided to reverse the bolts, inserting bolts from inside to out, putting wing nuts on outside. I’m skipping all the washers in this part. Was trying to find some quick release bolts/nuts of some sort. It appears well made and finish seems 1st rate. Will see how it holds up outside under roof. I’m “old” and can’t do LP tanks anymore.
