I haven't attempted anything difficult yet, but this unit will make good regular or sweet potato fries. It's perfect for heating up pre-made frozen mini samosas (they come out thoroughly heated and crisp in 12 min. as opposed to 20 min. in a regular oven), therefore probably good for heating up any frozen pre-made snack item. Set the temperature with a dial, and the on-off switch is also the timer dial. Easy to use, and yes you can get a deep-fried taste just using a couple tablespoons of cooking oil.. I suspect this unit would not work so well if stuffed full of family-sized portions, so if you're regularly feeding more than 2 people, get a larger version instead of this compact 2-quart model. Otherwise, it takes up little space, turns out fairly crisp food and doesn't get your kitchen hot like a full-size oven would do. ... show more
