  • Reliable, durable and good value for the price
Color: Black
I bought this for tiny house/hunting cabin project. I have a 50Amp RV power hookup and was looking for on demand water heating for sink and shower. Since it may be a few weeks in between visits to the cabin I was shopping for a unit that is 1) Tankless to avoid keeping water in a water heater tank, and 2) On demand and small enough that would not draw too much power. I was looking at both the 5.5kW and 6.5kW model from Ecotouch and decided to go with the 5.5kW. If you are comfortable with the plumbing and able to install a 30amp double pole breaker for the 240V supply the installation is pretty simple. The unit is surprisingly small and simply hangs on the wall. I have the heater below the sink, and shower stall built right next to it so the pipe is very short going to either sink or shower. From testing so far the heater works as advertised. Easy to turn on and adjust the desired temperature, and after selecting temperature the display switches to show current temp in the unit. In my setup the water is pumped from holding tank in the cabin itself so starting temp stays around 65-67 degrees. I keep the unit set at 110 degrees output. The pump is 2.9 GPM max, so with faucet wide open the water gets warm but it does not get to 110 degrees, as expected from the specs. If closing faucet halfway, at approx 1.4 GPM it does easily reach approx. 100 degrees within seconds, and if closing faucet a little below halfway it will reach 110 degrees at constant flow, but of course water flow is lower at that point. Product specs are - 67 deg water will reach 109 deg at 1.2GPM. I may look for a flow regulator to more precisely test flow rate, but seems to be accurate. Results: The hot water supply to sink works great, as described taking the temperature and flow rate limitations into mind. I have seen other reviews that have used for a shower. My shower stall not quite finished but I will test the output once complete, keeping mind this is a small unit and will not achieve the flow rate of my shower at home for the size. It will probably work as expected. Update: Have been using this water heater the past few years and it has worked perfectly for both the sink and shower, although technically not advertised for shower use. I have a low flow shower head installed and when turning hot water on for about 5 seconds the water is as hot as advertised by the limitations of the unit. If hotter water is desired the flow can be turned down slightly. ... show more

  • Works exactly as needed
Color: White
So the situation is this... office is about 50-75' away from where the traditional gas fired hot water heater is located. The water travels in a non-insulated area that let's face it...the water is cold. The worst part? Takes a good 3-4 minutes to get warm water. Yes, I have timed it and the colder it is....the longer it takes. So I was originally going to put in a lowboy or some other small tanked heater--- then I started to look at the tankless units. For me it came down to what do we really need it for? Bathroom sinks and a sink for the kitchen--- honestly none are used with any amount of vigor, so I went with something that was not too big power consumption wise. This is supported by a 30A double pole breaker and 10ga wire. I have seen some post where people have used 12ga--- that is incorrect wire sizing and although it "works" it creates heat and can easily cause fires, etc. Save yourself or the life of others--- use the correct wire size. So after getting it installed and what we did for our situation was to break in the line and plumb this inline with the gas hot water heater as an assist. PEX and Shark Bite fittings made short work of it all and tying into the existing copper. Leak tested, and let it purge out any air....turned on the breaker and set the temp to 110-degrees. So now it takes a mere 10-15 seconds depending on which sink you use. Water is plenty warm to wash your hands or clean silverware, cups, etc. So overall I am duly impressed. I have really thought about it and in the future I will be buying one for home as I have a 240V/30A outlet for other purposes in my garage that I will use with one of these to wash cars--- warm water always works better and right now I only have cold water. I also have recommended it to a friend that has a pier and a wash station--- same situation in that they have hot and cold, but the the hot takes forever to get there....so they're going to be installing one this spring. ... show more

  • Works as a paper weight.
Color: White
If you have an RV then do NOT buy this product. Only apparently works with a high water flow. Was easy to install but just don’t work for us. Bought another brand and it worked great.

  • Heats the water
Color: Silver
Heats the water...eventually. The greater the delta T (incoming cold - outgoing heated), the greater the time to full hot at full-flow). The workaround - With practice, you will be able to pick a low flow rate that is just enough to activate the heating sequence. The water will heat a bit quicker at this lowest flow rate, and as it gets to what seems to be the preferred set high temperature or higher, increase the flow rate to the desired flow rate, at which moment the temperature should stabilize at what you want without having to blend in cold water or waste slowly heating water at full flow. I have pushed Ecotouch to build a shower version equipped with an internal 6 millisecond GFCI and a scald prevention total power shut-off, both with external user reset buttons after appropriate delayed reset times for each (less time for GFCI, more time for scald). My guess is that the shower units would be about $75 more than the current non-shower units. In both cases the time/usage cycles to failure validations should substantially exceed those of the base unit. ... show more

  • Temperature control is great
Color: White
I used this to replace the last point of use water heater I installed. The first one did not have adjustable temperature control and the water would get up to 150 degrees depending up the flow rate. This one works much better. It has adjustable temperature control and is temperature regulated depending up on flow too. I have it installed on the hot water line to our upstairs bathroom under the sinks which are 2-1/2 stories above the water heater. Now we have hot water in about 7-8 seconds and when the hot water gets from the basement to the upstairs, this water heater goes into standby mode. I have this one set at 110 degrees; the basement water heater is set at 125 degrees. ... show more
