This is an excellent addition for your DnD fan. When added to the Player’s Handbook, it sets them up for being a dungeon master. Excellent photos with thick pages. Well made to last for a while. The screen is pretty cool as well. Stands up well and is large enough to shield the master’s information.

    • If your version seems of subpar quality return it!
I've seen a number of reviews talking about this set not being on par with other versions of the books. Things like having thinner covers, lower quality paper, or blurry/low res art. I have not experienced that with my set at all. My old copy of Xanathar's is exactly the same as the one in this set (minus the shiny cover). It's actually a very nice box set. If you get a set with manufacturer defects you should contact Amazon and get it replaced, because it's not supposed to be that way. As for the actual content in these books, I've been enjoying them quite a bit, but as others have said, don't buy this just for monsters of the mulitverse.     • Beautiful set of compendiums!
These books are beautiful! The foil covers make the light dance around them in a nimbus of ethereal fire! The inclusion of the foil covered DM screen is fantastic! All of this is housed in a beautiful black box that makes for a truly wonderful presentation. I love it!

(An update is shared at the end to explain 4 stars, original review I gave was 1 star) Disappointed to find that after ordering these books as a gift for one of my boys, keeping them in storage outside of return date, they were recently given them and we discovered a couple of the books in the set had misprints. The first was the "Monnsters of the Multiverse" which had misprinted spine title (note the double 'N' in Monsters). Secondly, the Xanathar's Guide to Everything had double printings of pages (pages 65 to 72, and 88 to 96) and was missing pages 73 to 88 entirely. A disappointing find given that the box set and foil covers overall are beautiful. I've ordered many D&D 5e books from Amazon (~20 to date) and this is the first time I've come across a misprint so far in books we've used and gone through, so I'm hoping customer service will be able to help remedy in short order. Update 11/17/2023: I reached out to customer service, the misprinted set was returned and refunded. I purchased the same set again and the new set does not appear to have any misprints/issues. Upgrading to 4 stars for the help and support to get this corrected, quality of the replacement book set and fairly painless return and delivery process. ... show more

The covers are foiled and shiny versions of the normal cover version. Reminds me of the holographic pokemon cards back in the day. Also makes it easier to tell who's book is whoms when we have them both at the table.
