  • Don't panic
Well, today I'm off. So I just decided, to put my latch on the tailgate on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. If there is nothing interfering, you should get this done in about 20 minutes. I took it apart and put it together, no problem. Well it don't want to open. HaHaHa I took it apart again. Comes to find out, the level is off , it need to be lower. So I turned it around (180°) and there's a little screw, that you loosen and you adjust your level and tighten it back up. Now install it, done deal. Great job, well done. I hope this is help you. And yes, after I tested it a couple times and then it didn't want to work. I was panicking, for nothing. Now I'm waiting, for my beloved mailman, to bring me my, front door handle latch cable. It will be installed today, oh people. I got this down. I took my door apart, million times. It is so easy, you don't even have to take everything out. But that's in a other review. Good luck everybody and✌️💥🤙 ... show more

  • Buy OEM instead!
Looked good, fit good but obviously poor quality inside. Worked fine until locked and then unlocked with remote. Would never open afterwards. Spent another $115 dollars for the OEM, worked great.

  • Groovy One-to-One Replacement
Works just fine if you take your time. See instructions below: 1. Open the tail gate 2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal (black, not red) 3. Gently pop off the plastic trim vent on the interior side of the tail gate door 4. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the locking mechanism (press down on top of tab and pull towards you) 5. Disconnect the green clip from the first metal bar (pull green clip to right from 12 to 3) and pop out metal bar from locking mechanism 6. Disconnect the purple clip from the second metal bar (pull purple clip to right from 6 to 3) and pop out metal bar from locking mechanism 7. Unscrew 3 torx screws (T27) from the right interior side of the tail gate that anchor the locking mechanism to the tail gate 8. Reverse these instructions for installation Tip 1: If you're having trouble popping the 2 metal bars back in to the new locking mechanism, loosen the 3 torx screws so you can move the new locking mechanism up and down (wiggle room). Tip 2: If the green and purple (grey) clips on the new locking mechanism are a bit loose or not secure enough, you may need to remove the green and purple clips from the old locking mechanism and install them on the new one. Tip 3: If after installing the new locking mechanism and closing the tail gate, you find it hard to open the tail gate door, apply some lithium grease to the part on the tail gate that latches closed. A new locking mechanism likely won't be lubricated. You'll notice the old one is. Tip 4: If it seems like it isn’t working, there was an adjustment screw that is slightly hidden. You can see it through a hole on the same part of the tailgate with the Torx screws (lower right hole in the pic). Slide your allen wrench in there, loosen it, let the screw slide to the end and tighten. Worked for my 2015. ... show more

  • Check before you close
The media could not be loaded. Check, check and check again. Installation was straight forward, but..... I tripped the latch with a screwdriver at least half a dozen times and it worked perfectly. Then I got brave and closed the gate and was relieved when it opened. I opened and closed the gate a dozen more times and it worked perfectly. Success, everything worked. Until..... my wife went shopping and locked the doors. When she came back, the gate would not open. Lock, unlock, lock, unlock - nope, would not open. Maybe unlock with the key? Nope, no dice. Somehow, when the gate locked, the unlock lever could not move far enough to unlock it. I had to go inside and remove the clip on the unlock lever and manually move it full stroke to get it to unlock. Finally I could open the gate and access the small Allen head adjustment screw accessible through a small hole between the latch mounting screws. After determining which way that adjustment had to go, I tightened that screw and checked operation again. This time I made sure to operate the latch with a screwdriver many times, operating the lock as well before ever closing the gate again. Finally, everything worked great. Just make sure you try locking and unlocking the doors before actually closing the door. Instructions would have been great for that adjustment, but was never mentioned. Once adjusted, the latch works great. ... show more

  • Quick Fix
It was wonderful to get this device the next day ! My Jeeps very back door latch broke. As challenging as it was, he was able to fix it for $55 rather than $100’s for labor. Thank you!
