Put this outside table today and test it out, the heat that came out this thing is nice and warm and smokeless. i like how they put a sliding vent on the bottom to. And my kids love making s’mores on this thing, great time to spend with them glad I got this.

I ordered this firepit because it was a less expensive version of another one I own and I wanted to see how it would compare. $40 puts it well into the range of gifting, so I wanted to see if it was up to the task. I have used it with pellets so far and cannot say how it would burn twigs. My first impressions upon opening this firepit were less than impressive, but I was pleasantly surprised once I used it. It looked nice out of the box and came with a nylon carry bag. I was a little worried that the internal chamber was one single piece. This is different from other similar stoves I’ve used and gave me a little concern that it wouldn’t burn well. The stove came with zero instructions, but the constriction collar is the only piece that comes off the stove, so there’s nothing to assemble or configure correctly. I liked that the feet are rigid and will not be a likely fail point on this stove. Burning pellets in this stove is straight forward, but you will need to do some basic research if you’ve never used a similar stove due to its a lack of instructions. A quart of pellets lasts about an hour and the stove takes about 8 minutes to start burning off the wood gas and turn to a smokeless flame. The central pellet adapter is permanently attached and is quite tall. This means you can fill it up quite a bit and can add pellets a little more aggressively once lit without snuffing out the flames. I really liked this. It also means that the stove produces a very nice gas flame at its center, which adds to efficiency. Unlike other smokeless pits, there is an air vent at the bottom of this stove to adjust the airflow an flame height. This was something that I was a little skeptical of until I had the chance to use it. To my surprise, I liked it quite a bit. Despite this, you should still plan ahead, because once this stove is lit there’s no easy way to put it out. The efficiency of this stove was better than I expected. The tall center pellet adapter an vent holes in the constrictor ring means that there’s plenty of airflow in the secondary burn zones and all of the wood gas is ignited. I’ve included some photos of the first time I used this stove. I have some before, during, and after pictures. You’ll see that the inside and outside of the stove looked very good considering the high temp that the woo gas is burning. I may update this review after the stove has had a few dozen burns in it if the condition deteriorates. At this point, I don’t think it will. Overall, this stove was much better than I expected. It burns well, and it’s easy to use. The lack of instructions means that it may not be the best gift for inexperienced users unless they do some research on other stoves. I have no concerns about the quality of construction and have come to appreciate its internal “one-piece” design. The body of the stove is sturdy, and the finish is nice out of the box.     • Nice, but what for?
I had good luck with pellets, briquettes and lumps of wood or charcoal. The bottom is close off so it is hard to light. You have to use some paper and veg oil to get it going an it's easy to block what little draft there is. I had my best luck with chunky fuel because it keeps the air moving. The thing is, what can I do with this? It gives off almost not light, just a bit of heat if you very close to it. it perfect for toasting marshmallows at the table for s'mores etc but I just dunno what else I can do with it? I think it would be better suited to camping where you can use if to heat up food or make coffee. Then the light weight makes sense and you can feed it broken stick and pine needles. I wish it had a small rack on tom to hold a pot or cook kit. ... show more

    • Really good wood gas stove
That’s essentially what this is even though it’s labeled as a fire pit. This is a wood gas stove that is great for camping and ideal for using any kind of fuel you can think of. This is a little bit harder to load and the centerpiece makes it a little crowded but otherwise it’s a fantastic stove that burns quickly and very hot. I enjoy the idea of being able to burn just about anything for fuel. You can burn your trash you can burn anything you pick up off the ground and use it to make your food. It actually makes sense to burn debris andbramble rather than nice pieces of wood. It’s not very compact but it is light so you can hook it to the outside of your pack and you barely notice it’s there. ... show more
