My cat looks like the one in the picture, so of course I had to get this harness for him — but it worked very well for him during a long road trip. He hates collars but hasn’t minded this harness. He also has broken out of two carriers in three years, the first being the cardboard carrier from his adoption, the second being a vinyl and mesh carrier similar to the Amazon Basics one. For whatever reason, collars and carriers distress him, but this harness was comfortable and easy to put on! (I bought the Medium size, he’s 14.5 lbs and very large) I was able to unclip and re-fasten this harness fairly easily when he got tangled in it during the car ride. He did manage to slip out of it a couple times, but mostly on accident — once was when he hid under the car upon arrival and we tried to pull him out via the harness and it slipped over his head. So while not entirely escape-proof, it seems pretty secure for everyday activities, and was easy to guide him with when he tried to move around while the car was in motion. My cat absolutely loves this, we live in an area that has wild animals so I have two cats that I keep indoors. They always want to go outside, so we bought the harness and leash and they absolutely love it. The only issue I would say is when the cat is trying to walk around and pulls on the leash, the harness bunches up near his neck. ... show more

Size small fit my chunky cat perfectly. He has never used a harness before but he took to this one very quickly. His feet slip out of it sometimes but he only wears it with supervision so it's not a huge issue. We like it so much we ordered one for our 10 pound maltese.

Make sure you put it on tight, don't allow any slack because it is stretchy. While it all looked good my cat easily got out of it.
