  • Creative and well-developed activities!
This is a great set of activities for kids to do on scooter boards. The activities are simple, clearly explained, and require just one or a few items for quick set up. I bought this to help entertain my busy children indoors during the hot and humid Texas summer, and it is working great for our purposes. ... show more

  • Good Ideas, Could Be Priced Lower, Some Extra Equipment Needed for In-home Use
I purchased this because I wanted a set of premade ideas that I didn't have to hunt down to do scooter board therapy exercises with our son, who has a laundry list of diagnoses at this point that comes with an assortment of challenges and developmental delays. Condition wise, I don't have any problem with them, they were well packaged and I believe the metal case will protect them adequately. My son can not read at this time, so I'm not planning on having him hold these. As they are basically printed on a glossy card stock, you wouldn't want to give these to a kiddo who likes to chew anyways. What I do think is that for what they are, they could be priced just a little bit lower, and that it might be more useful to have them come in booklet format, where you could flip through the pages, and put tabs, etc. However, I can see that if you are an OT or a PT doing group therapy in a school setting, it may be an advantage that these are individual cards that could be split up to give each kiddo a different exercise. For me, because I don't have time to be digging through the internet right now to find a comparable list for our son, I went ahead and paid the $25 some odd dollars because my son has hit a point joint attention wise where I can finally work him up to some of these and I just wanted to hit the ground running. But I am also in the position of many parents of a kiddo with significant needs, and I spend a lot of money on therapy aids, and so I consider whether or not I think a price point is fully warranted when I review these things. From the perspective of a parent doing exercises with her kiddo in home, if you are a parent what you need to be aware of is that while most of these activities can be done with things you've probably got lying around, there are 11 of the 54 that require a ramp, so if you don't have one of those, that's something to consider. Some of them may also require additional purchases, like the skier activity, where you put balls on the bottom of two dowels and they "ski" across the floor on the scooter. Seriously excited about that one, but yah. I'm going to have to buy dowels, balls, etc. There are a couple of activities that also call for a hoop, but could theoretically be duplicated by you holding a laundry basket for them to hold onto or stick their arm into. And one activity does call for cones, but I'm totally planning on using cans of beans. The cards themselves, I do like the illustrations with arrows, I think they are clear, and the instructions are good, giving even some tips for trouble shooting challenges for the kiddo on some of the cards. So overall, I love the cards, I would have loved it more at a lower price point, and I think parents or at-home therapists need to be aware of some of the equipment requirements, as that may limit the usefulness of them for the price depending on your circumstances. ... show more

  • Motivating

  • Useful product for those working with kids
Overall, pleased with these cards, nice quality, sturdy enough for the therapist or teacher's hands to use daily. Downside, about as big as an index card so using the picture portion on the card for kids to use as a visual model may not work. Would not pass around for children to see if they are prone to crumpling things. Colored coded for three positions; supine activities, tummy and sitting or kneeling activities. On back of card it shows therapeutic benefits for the card's activity. For example, one called "Cross Crawl" good for core and upper body strength, facilitates trunk rotation, provides vestibular input, and improves timing and motor planning. Other info on the back includes set up and materials, directions and tips. Excellent for beginning therapists like me but I'm going to guess those with a sensory disorders background or many years of experience working with children may know a lot of the card activities. Great resource though to have on hand to just thumb through, cute little box similar to those old fashioned band aide tins; makes for nice storage and transport. ... show more

  • Great for school based OT or PT
What a time saver for a busy school OT!! Running from school to school, I don't get much planning time. These activities are innovative and fun for my students while working on various skills. Well made and store in tin can. Shipping is expensive, but worth it.
