I have had this alarm clock for almost a year. It has a lot of features that I am pleased with. I like the light colors that I can change and make them dimmer or brighter as well. The brightest setting is really bright, which I like. I also like the radio feature and the music (one sounds like a lullaby) but is very soothing if I'm anxious. I’ve had this alarm clock for a whole year and it is the only alarm that peacefully wakes me up. Instead of being jolted awake by an iphone alarm, I am gradually woken up by the light of the alarm before the sound goes off. Usually I am awake before the sound even has to play. Additionally, I love the night light feature, which can change colors, and the radio. The settings can be confusing at first but once you get the hang of it it’s easy.     • Decent for Price, Time Display is Just Too Bright

I tried this alarm for a couple weeks. I'd previously used a second-hand older Phillips model but after almost 10 years, the light stopped working and I was unable to find a way to repair it. With short Midwest days arriving soon, I knew I needed an alarm with a light. I also knew I didn't need anything super fancy so gave this alarm a try as a replacement. It worked as advertised. Ultimately, I decided to return it for the following reasons: 1) The time display does have different brightness settings but the major flaw of this clock is using blue-ish white light for the time. Even at the most dim setting, it created a bright glow in my bedroom, so I had to turn the time display off entirely to have a dark room. This meant needing to look at my fitbit if I needed a time check during the night. My previous clock used orange for the time display. It's just a less intrusive night time color. During my trial, I just noticed my frustration growing at not being able to glance at the time. The time display does come on with the daylight lamp as part of the alarm, at medium brightness, so also, every night, I had to turn the time display back off. But, if I wanted a sanity check that my alarm was enabled, I had to flip the display to full brightness and dial it back off to see that the "1" was glowing. I could probably manage with items 2 & 3 on my list and so this design choice is the primary reason I removed one star from my review. A device designed for night should not have anything with white/blue light. It just does not dim enough to compensate for this color selection. 2) I experimented with different daylight lamp brightness settings for the alarm but the initial state is just too bright for me. Again, I'm used to a name brand model that fades up gradually from darkness vs blinking on straight to 20-30% and I think my sensitivity to light is just extra high so this did make a difference for me. It does start at a bold red and simulate the sunrise, progressing to more yellow. I just care more about initial brightness than the color simulation. 3) The alarm audio clips are very low quality and very tin-ny/high treble. I'm not expecting dolby digital by any means but I've had chirping birds/rainforest type sounds on my alarm clocks for almost 30 years and never experienced this poor of audio quality. As mentioned, the clock works as advertised and the other color scapes might have been fun to have but I found I never used them because it was a hassle to even get to the color I wanted and as others have said, the interface is just a little convoluted. I was able to set the alarm and follow the directions and really liked that this had the option for 2 alarms, but the display light color/brightness and initial daylight lamp brightness were just dealbreakers for me and the audio quality pushed me to "return". I ended up finding an open box/scuffed up name brand model with the features I was familiar with for half the price I paid for this product. If you don't need pure darkness to sleep and cannot find an affordable alternative, this would be better than nothing if you also live in a climate where it's pitch dark in the mornings. I researched sunrise alarm clocks for a week. It took forever to find what I wanted. I ordered two different clocks. This, and the JuxLamp. The Juxlamp works very well, but the alarm sound isn't loud enough with my white noise machine, and it's features are limited. It's also overpriced compare to this one. I'm sending Juxlamp back and keeping this. I've already bought two more of these to give as gifts. This light is not rated 10,000 lux like the Juxlamp is, but it gets just as bright. I honestly can't tell the difference. You can make the sunrise go to an extremely bright white that is hard to look at, or stay in the yellow-golden-orange range. You choose how bright it gets. The sunrise starts out a dark red/orange color 30 minutes before the time you set, and it transitions smoothly to the brighter light. So if you set 7:30 am, it will start at 7 am. If you want to have an alarm sound with the sunrise, it comes on and gradually gets louder at the exact time you have set (7:30 am), after the 30 minute sunrise. You can tap the top to snooze the sound only. The light stays on until you turn the alarm off with the touch pad. The nature sounds are real, and the loop is not easy to detect, but it's about 4 minutes long. Some of the sounds are different for sunset/sunrise. The loudest setting is too loud, even with my sound machine on. I keep it in the middle range. But I do like that the extra loud option is there if I ever need it. The fall asleep option comes on when you press the night time button and it stays on the amount of time you choose: 30/60/90 minute, 2H or 12 hours. It glows a really dim white color. If you tap the top once it turns off the light, tap twice and it turn off the sound and light. It would have been better if the fall asleep light was a gold-orange color, and even better if it could do a gradual sunset. But I don't care for this function much and don't really plan to use it for that. The sounds are nice though. The directions are easy to follow. This is a great alarm clock! My biggest problem was having to wake up at 5 am and it is still dark outside. The alarm is pleasant and effective. The light gradually turns on so it is like i am waking up with the sunrise. My room is well lit and visually reminds me to get out of bed! There are many options so it took me a minute to get used to setting it. Once done though, I don't have to touch it anymore - except to snooze! LOL ... show more
