I like everything about this compact unit. Big sound for small price. My Bose sound system CD player gave out so I replaced it with the Oakcastle unit and am amazed with it's performance. The remote even had batteries included. Set up is a breeze with the manual and one can sign up for a free 3 year extended warranty. Bought this for my mom who has moved into an independent living center. She wanted something small and easy to use that had both a radio and a CD player. I programmed the FM presets and it works great. My only complaint is when you scan for radio stations, it resets the presets so you can use scan after making your own. This unit is a steal at this price! Great sound and ease of use and it looks nice too. Good quality and pretty loud speakers also. It even has a pull out antenna for all those radio lovers out there. This unit does it all, CD player, Bluetooth, radio and 3mm aux in. Would highly recommend!

    • Sounds decent, additional features are confusing
CD function works great, but the USB function is confusing at best. There does not seem to be a great way to select what music you want to hear. It says the music is in “folders” but it’s hard to know what that means. It isn’t organized by album. It isn’t organized by actual file folders. It seems to just be random. And then it randomly turns to standby after a period of time, forcing you to turn it back on. I had hoped it would work well for an old iPod I have - and again, it does work, but I can’t select the specific music I want to play from that iPod. I also dislike how the volume, bass and treble settings are not retained when it goes into standby. I have to reset them each time. ... show more

Im really happy with my purchase. It is very well made and easy to use. Its enclosed in a beautiful black wood cabinet that is very solid and heavy. The speakers are large and give a very clean powerful sound. It plays all cds- even the ones that were made on a CD recorder. The cd and bluetooth and radio play very well. It has plenty of power and can play as loud as you want and can be heard all over the house. I have mine in the kitchen and it is a perfect pair for Amazon Music for crystal clear streaming of my favorite songs. i would highly recommend this unit ... show more

Like: Quality, look, sound and feel. Great looking for the kitchen or a small-medium sized room. I own a theater system currently built on Klipsch Atmos speakers/Onkyo nr7100 so sound quality has been in our household for decades. To Oakcastle and customers: The unit is OK, but, every time the unit is turned on out of standby the bass and treble have been reset to 0. To get tone quality set, you have to adjust the treble and bass again and again and again every time it's turned back on. It does NOT hold those settings. I think it's a flaw in the firmware. Everything is excellent, I really don’t think you could improve very much on this HiFi500 it sounds very nice for the size. Very easy to set up. The CD player works flawlessly. The FM has very good reception ( without using the antenna) The Bluetooth is my favorite, I have my music stored on my cellphone and I can play it through the system. I can’t find nothing wrong with it yet, I will see how long it will last by playing it everyday. Thanks for a nice stereo system. ... show more
