    • Hit pay dirt right away!
Well, 5 cents actually. Still the display said it was 5 cents and that's what I found! This was in my gravel driveway. Nearby it said there was a dime and a quarter so seems like someone lost their change! This is a nice metal detector, as it discriminates between junk and coins. The display shows what you found but there are three different tones that indicate the metal type. You can switch between two detection modes. One requires a sweeping motion, but the other doesn't and can be used to pinpoint a find. There are adjustments for sensitivity and a depth indication on the display. It is adjustable, but a little short for my build. Still, either adults or kids would have fun with this detector. I like how it can break down into pieces so that when you want to put it away it isn't some bulky thing that is hard to store. There are also headphones and a nice solid entrenching tool provided.     • Great Beginners Metal Detector!
New to metal detecting, I wanted a detector that is more for the beginner than to get a high quality detector just in case I did loose interest. Found this detector for a very good price and decided to give it a try. I am an amatuer at this but the detector I received does have some very good features worth mentioning. It is easy to assemble, weighs in at just 1.5 lbs, and has most of the features that comes with more expensive models. The detector easily detects pennys, nickels, dimes, and quarters. It detects the silver coins I have correctly as well as my 14kt gold ring. As long as the items are just no more than 6-8 inches below the ground I think this detector will work perfectly for my intended use. Especially for the beginner, I am happy with this detector and can recommend! ... show more

    • Ready to find treasure!
Got this for my 6 year old for Christmas. We have taken it out to a local park only to find pieces of cans and lids but at least we "found" something. It works and is very consistent with readings. We're looking forward to taking it to a beach or areas with potential!

This is a fun detector at this price point. It will be great for kids or the average Joe detector that is not looking for anything fancy. Depth detection is limited and you don't get all the fancy control that you find with more expensive tools. With that said, this does what it says it does. You can adjust it easily to suit your height. It has a nice LED screen to give you some info on the signal you are getting. Comes with headphones and a nice portable shovel/pick. Overall not a bad buy...just don't expect a high end detetector and you'll be happy with this. ... show more

    • Still learning
I'll be verifying the tones it makes for each metal I'm going to look for, plus combinations, such as when a coin purse has copper, nickel, silver, or gold in want combination. The little shovel is okay. Time will tell. I got this for Christmas and it's wet and rainy so testing the shovel hasn't been easy. Once it's been dry and the ground is hard and dry, I'll be able to figure out how strong it is... I'll change the rating if necessary ... show more
