  • Good filament
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
My Bambu Lab Carbon printer never has an issue Sunlu filament. Expect the wood filament to smell like wood burning while printing.

  • Wood PLA, make those parts look real
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
Everything is costing more these days, including PLA filament. I've had good luck with this brand and a few others that I'll continue to buy. I think most options such as print quality, Adhesion, and Sheerness are more the printer than the filament, especially if kept dry, and moisture free. Like other brands and being new to the whole 3D printing game, prints come out very well considering. I didn't weigh to see if it was exactly what was stated, as again I'm not going to call out that only 999.9 feet came on a 1,000 foot spool, I can splice, and continue to print. In my reviews most of them are highly rated as I look for what I need, prior to buying, and are based on that fact (price/requirement/use). I've not had to contact the seller for any issues or claims, however would not hesitate to purchase this product, or from this seller again. ... show more

  • Low-temp Wood filament: it's soft so watch retraction
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
First thing I always do with new filaments is print a torture test so I can see how the filament responds with overhangs, small details, bridges, etc. With the low-temperature wood filament, the filament kept breaking inside my extrusion head on the feed gear - every time after the first couple of layers. It took me a while of experimenting with temperatures, different designs, retraction speeds until I disabled layer retraction altogether. This fixed my breakage problem. So I conclude that the filament is very, very soft and the feed gear from retracting over gaps and different layers would wear away the filament. Once I got the filament to print properly (by disabling retraction), the prints come out great. The print has a soft feel to it - it doesn't feel like straight PLA. It was easy to work with and I had no adhesion issues. I found it printed best around 180 F on my printer with only a little stringing and other artifacts from having no retraction. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the lack of any information from the manufacturer about the softness and problems with the feed gear. Any type of note saying to be aware that the feed gear will grind through this filament if you extrude, retract, and extrude again would have been helpful in diagnosing the issues with this filament. ... show more

  • Print quality is my fault, not the filament
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
I love wood filaments. First roll of any filament from this maker, so I was unsure of what to expect. Not sure the percentage of wood in this one (since its not advertised I assume its low), but I could still smell the wood as it printed! I had a 1.0mm nozzle on already so I was totally ready to have a few problems while I figured out the temp, but experienced NONE! I did start at 200c nozzle temp instead of the max 190 it recommended. And there's a little stringing, but that's been a problem for me for a while now, so it's not the filaments fault! Great stuff, lets me trust the brand, and I will most likely buy again! ... show more

  • Okayish, But not so great on longer prints
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
Was using an Ender 3 Pro with a nozzle temp of 200 and a bed of 60. My default speed is 50 mm/s. The results? On prints that take less than 8 hours, they turn out great! There is a bit of trouble with first layer adhesion on the bed as well as with the surrounding plastic, so the first layer turns out stringy and peels away, but the rest of the print turns out pretty good Unfortunately, I tried doing a 12 hour print, and about 8 hours in, things started to clog. I was unfortunately in a different room at the time and when I came back, there was a big blockage of wood fiber only at the end of my boden tube and I had to snip it off. This is also probably in part due to my print settings, but I haven't had trouble with other brands such as Hatchbox. Nevertheless, I rarely do longer prints in wood filament, so this problem might not happen in the future I'm also not to happy with the listing. In the description, it says the recommended nozzle temp is 170-190 while the rest of the documentation says 190-220, which is confusing. I feel like that's important knowledge to know, especially with clogging UPDATE: I got a new 0.6mm nozzle and a new bowden tube assembly (a big issue with clogd came from the crappy bowden tubes you get with the printer, causing a gap in the extruder). I then did a bunch of research about wood filament and changed the temp to 205, lowered the retraction distang to 2mm, lowered the speed to 25 mm/s, and am still geting a lot of skipping on the extruder gear. I've been pausing the print when that happens and flushing he nozzle out (it doesn't clog any more), but still, this filament is very finicky to work with. Skipping is really bad when printing support material ... show more

  • I wanted to like it.
Color: Real Wood Fiber Pla
I wanted to like this filament. I loved the slightly sweet smell when I first started it and noticed the woodish grain feel it has. Little did I know it was going to be a major disappointment. I always start at the manufacturer specs. 170-190 on this one. At that temp it was not extruding. I removed it and made sure no clogs and nothing. Tried again and then started increasing temperature until I reached the maximum. The filament started to come out at this point but seemed like it was all ready beginning to clog. I made sure it was not and after taking the filament out and back in, I tried a print at the maximum temp. I did a 4 hour totem pole to see how it works. Well a third of the way in to printing it must have clogged and I did not realize it as I came to a "finished" print which was far from done. I put in the nozzle cleaner this time and I get a huge amount of oozing dark brown matter resembling of burnt sugar (molasses?). After numerous attempts to clear the nozzle I got it and it started extruding at the normal level. Tried the print a second time and it had the same issue about 1/4th the way in. I unload it, clear it again, and load a filament I know has no issues and finish the test print ensuring my bed, settings, and calibrations were in line. This filament is horrible. I would say maybe I made an error, however this was the settings displayed on the filament. ... show more
