First off, the current product photo is totally wrong. It looks like a water filter or something. This actually is a pretty good aquarium gravel filter and water change out tool. The suction wand is telescopic and can be adjusted from 18" to 24". There is large bulb with one way valves inline with the discharge hose to start the siphon action. Much better than sucking on the tube to start it (yuck). It is connected to the wand with a 12" length of tubing. There is a 4' 11" length of tubing from the discharge port of the bulb. The kit comes with a clip that is put on the end of the discharge tube and will grab on the rim of a bucket. If you have ever had that tube flop out of the bucket while doing water changes, you know what a mess that can be. The tubing has crimps in it that don't go away once unfolded. But that doesn't stop the flow of water. Actually, one improvement would be to add a way to slow the water down. Sometimes it would pull too quickly and draw the gravel up the tube. Squeezing the tube cut off the flow and allowed the gravel to drop back down. But that takes a bit of finger strength and I can see getting fatigued after a while. I've been keeping fish for over a decade now and cleaning the tank has always been that task I'd put off for "one more day", you know how it goes. Then I ordered this one. I like the timed-off feature, I can be forgetful, so having that built-in is a bit of a lifesaver for me (and probably for my fish too!). The water shower and circulation, however, took a bit to get used to. It's not that it doesn't work, but I felt like I needed to tweak its position a few times before it felt just right. But, here's the thing – while washing the sand, I noticed it might pick up some of the finer grains. This electric aquarium vacuum gravel cleaner is the best thing I've ever bought for my fish tank! It's so easy to use and makes cleaning my tank a breeze. The suction is strong enough to remove all the dirt and debris from the gravel without sucking up the gravel itself. I also love that it can be used to change the water in my tank. Cleaning out my fish tank is always so hard to do. I have used so many different ways to try and help but none have worked out for me. When I saw this on Amazon I knew I had to try it out. It looked so convincing! This vacuum can suck to water out, or put water in. Practically a 2-in-1. This makes it really easy for cleaning out fish waste. The normal tubes I use, never are as successful as this one. It has a really good filtration system collecting the fish waste with ease. This fish vacuum gravel cleaner has been so successful for me.
