I purchased a small, and the magnet was a bit weak but everything else is well put together. I looked through my history and noticed I purchased my orignal from same company so reordred. I contacted support and they responded quickly. I ended up with a larger size and the magent is very strong. I have multiple tanks. 75/29/10 x2 -- It works well in all. It is quite the beast. Large gripping surface, which you will need as the magent is strong. I used it on my 75 tonight and it too a good bit of force to get it moving. It is a bit large in the 10g's , I didn't notice if they had a 'medium' size, if they do & you're thinking of the small size. Upgrade to the medium. ... show more

The surface of the interior brush is like Velcro. It cleans fairly well but not as much as you might like. It also clogs up and is a nuisance to clean. So I put a square of a cloth towel over it which cleaned a lot better. But I had to clean it in the washing machine. What works even better is a paper towel that's been folded over once and trimmed to be a little bit bigger than Velcro. It really scrubs off the algae etc better than the cloth or velcro. Throw it away after cleaning. Easy and quick. The two halves are ferociously held together by magnets. It's very difficult to take apart as shipped. I had to use a flat screwdriver to pry them apart and rotate 90°. For storage, don't put them back together. Use a small towel folded into 4 or 6 layers for separation and then put them together. The magnetic grip is really strong. Very good for cleaning. You don't have to worry about the brush falling off inside the tank. But if it does it floats to the top. This is a very easy to use and effective method of cleaning your tank. ... show more

This works fairly well on light algae growth. I have to pass it over the same area several times to clean it completely. I think it is a little small for my 20 gallon tall but originally bought it for a smaller tank. The magnet is not strong enough to go around corners and will release if pulled out slightly but works ok. I have sand substrate and it will get in between the cleaning block and the glass if I touch bottom. I mainly use it on the front of my tank. I ended up buying a razor cleaner for the sides and back to take care of what the snails don’t. I continue to give them a chance to do their job but 🤷🏼♀️. I bought the mini size and it's mighty to me. I'm a first time magnetic scraper user - have a very, very small (5gal) fish tank and I was nothing but pleasantly surprised and frankly astonished - algae grows in little patches on the glass and I usually use magnet every 2-3 days now to keep them from establishing themselves more and enjoyingwatching my little fish population through the clearest glass. Of course I was afraid the two parts wouldn't stay together with the thick glass in between and was afraid to go anything but very slow and in one direction the first time I used it. The more I used it the more I dared to use more speed and direction changes and even circling, I'm actually enjoying myself cleaning algae off the glass (never thought I would write that down)- the two pieces might not be evenly together all the time and the inside part moves a little up or down or sideways but never came apart so far. Today I decided to try the two rounded front corners I was afraid of doing with it for the first time - I still can't believe they are now absolutely clean/clear and the two parts didn't separate when they had to be move more apart going from the side glass over the round corner to the front glass. Actually wished I had a tank that was all glass a around - I have filter box/system in back. I absolutely love this for my little fish tank - much faster than scraping with telescope scrubbing tool (bought one too since I was not sure of magnet adhesion while scrubbing and can't use magnet in back) Definitely would buy again and I think the price is a bargain. edit 6.2.24: I am sorry to have to reduce my rating down to one star. I'm using their largest magnet scraper on my 200 gallon tank to keep the algae at Bay and I can no longer do that because the razor blade scraper/holder won't stay seated on the end. it keeps on popping off. I've made sure the indent and tab are clean but nothing seems to help. edit 5.29.23 : ordered a new one after the other one started leaking. the new one has now been working for months with no issues so I'm upgrading my review to a 4 star. I'm withholding a star only because the first one was defective and I wish the magnet was a little bit stronger for my thicker glass. I have a 210 gallon aquarium and The Glass looks like it's about a half inch thick. this magnet scrubber seems to work great but in using it the first time I had a series of continuous bubbles emanating from the inside the aquarium half of the pair. strong magnetic attraction through the half inch glass seemed to work great on stubborn brown algae that has grown on the glass. some spots it took 10 or so passes of the inside scrubber to clean this stubborn algae off but I am pleased with the results. since my aquarium is about 2 ft deep the desire to have a floating magnet is key and my concern is the bubbles indicate water is going into the inside of the aquarium half. I may just have a manufacturing defect and will replace this unit for what I hope to be a better one from the same manufacturer. ... show more
