This contraption actually works quite well. After I found an adapter that would work with my sink, I was in business. Turn the sink water on, put siphon in tank and boom - sucked out about 30 gallons in 10-15 minutes. The suction is not super strong, but enough to suck up debris off the bottom. Reverse the switch and fresh water flowed back into tank. Moved 60 gallons of water total in about 30 minutes while I watched! Gone are the days of slinging buckets around. Hoping it will last though since it's mostly plastic parts. I did raise the hose up a few feet to get a better siphon and level with tank top to help with volume and speed. ... show more

I rated this 5 star because the product came as described and made cleaning a 150+ gallon so much easier! Literally! Initially, I was looking at this product for quite some time but was scared to purchase. I had purchased a product similar to this before but it didn't work as well as this one. Before, my husband and I, would clean the tank the "really" old fashion way where we'd use buckets to fill the tank. Imagine doing this to a 150+ tank. Took us forever! Now, water changes are a little less than an hour with prep work involved. Cons: Not enough of a vacuum pull that I'd like to see, in order to siphon poop out but does the job. Pros: Easy to assemble Multiple ways to attach to faucet or hose Easy to clean Can take water out of the tank quickly and fill the tank quickly Worth paying for EDIT: After some time using the product, it does make water changes easier however, I wished the suction was a little more powerful. This product is a game changer. Made doing a water change a breeze. I needed & appreciated the long hose. Only problem is that the plastic connection to the faucet cracked after one use. I've tried mending it the best I can & hope it will last. Didn't use the product until my return limit was up so that's why I wasn't able to return it. There are 3 main uses that affected how I rated this product - filling a tank, draining a tank, and cleaning a tank. I'm also taking into account ease of use. First of all, it's really easy to set up - anyone should be able to attach it with a pair of channel locks / pliers (and you might not even need those). I only needed to use channel locks because the existing fixture on the faucet was a bit hard to get off. The kit includes everything you need, with multiple adapters and thread tape. And the fact that it uses quick connectors is definitely nice. As far as filling a tank goes, it works really well. Once everything is hooked up to the faucet, you just run the vinyl tubing to the tank and turn it on. It filled a 55 gallon tank really quickly - faster than I thought, which almost resulted in over filling the tank! Much faster and convenient than lugging buckets back and forth from the sink. As far as draining the tank went, that still works decently, but it took a long time. And, once you get most of the water out, you have to make sure to keep the end of the cleaning tube completely submerged. If even a tiny bit of air gets into the cleaning tube you lose suction. To fix it, you have to take everything apart and then reassemble it, with all of the parts submerged (which was a bit tricky). As far as cleaning the tank goes, it really didn't work very well at all. It uses the pressure of water coming out of the faucet to generate suction, but even with the faucet wide open (both hot and cold), I was barely able to get even relatively light debris all the way up the cleaning tube to the point where it was sucked into the vinyl tubing. Overall, it's easy to hook up and works great for filling a tank, but for the price I thought it should have been better at draining and cleaning the tank as well. ... show more

I have had multiple arm and shoulder surgeries and I thought that was the end of being able to take care of my 55 gallon aquarium. BUT! I hooked this up to the sink, put the vacuum wand in, took 25% of the water out, flipped the lever on the sink and wand. Flipped the levers the opposite direction and it fills back up. How easy is that?! Definitely worth the price! I only have one negative, the attachment to the sink is plastic and didn't last a year. Thankfully, the replacement piece is well priced and easy to install. I'm extremely thankful that I can continue my aquarium hobby without hurting myself. You can't go wrong... ... show more
