Should I Buy It?

If you're in the market for a subwoofer that offers robust sound quality, especially for bass enthusiasts, and you don't mind doing a bit of research to ensure you have the correct setup, this product seems like a solid investment. However, consider the potential hassle of servicing or upgrading the subwoofer due to the noted issues with warranty and parts availability before making your decision.

  • Best sounding one ive used so far!
i started with a used skar evl d4,then skar zvx d1.evl sounded best out of them but i found out that skar subs are pertty much disposable bc you cant get parts from skar so i got a def bonce avatar stu d1 that hits very low and hard however it doesnt seem to do much around 60hz or higher.so i grabbed the X12 V3 d2 and after it loosened up a little it sounds great with a pretty wide frequency range even at 1 ohm.i just got a taramps smart 5k for the avatar but i want to hook the X12 up to it to see how it sounds at 4 ohms because i never tried it at 4 ohms on my 3k.but at 1 ohm on the 3k it has the best SQ out of all listed.by pretty far.Update: sounds better and better every day ... show more

  • My favorite
Here comes the most honest and experienced review ever. I’ve been swapping subs monthly in Indianapolis for the last 5 years and have multiple cars and set ups (I’m creditable). This sub is my favorite single and would never get rid of it. IT IS A TANK. Obviously very loud, but very musical too. Im running it mostly in my 2016 accord coupe on a stock alternator with a interstate AGM under the hood with a big 3 upgrade. That’s it. I don’t drop below 13.4v. I occasionally put it in my 2016 4runner as well. WHAT BOX YOU PUT IT IN MATTERS MORE THAN ANYTHING. I have it in a 3 cubic foot kerf. It was in a box just like it that was 3cf with dual aero ports but was getting some baffle noise. It moves a ton of air so port area is key. Once I put it in the kerf, everything started flexing real hard, which I love. Because it’s such a heavy sub, when it moves, you really feel it. I can surely say it’s louder/moves more air then a pair of SA12’s on the same wattage. My last sub in the same power and price range to this that I had for 6+ months was a DB WDX G5 12”. Great sub but this just beats it in ever category for me. I really like the shape of the foam. It’s not just a mega roll and not completely round. It’s basically egg shaped. I noticed it really helps with the throw but also control. I don’t think I have seen another sub with the foam shaped and designed like this. Originally, i had this sub on a sundown SIA 3500. Wanted to get away from full range amps, then got an audio pipe apdlo 3k and boy that’s what the sub wanted. Then, I wanted cleaner power, and now have it on a kicker KXA 2400.1. Keep in mind it’s always wired at 2ohm. Through all 3 amps, I never once had any sort of problem at all with the sub. No crazy clipping, smell, nothing at all. Having it on an amp with clean power really makes a difference. I’ve never seen it clip not once on my KXA and it’s seeing 2500 rms. Yes, buy a high end amp that does 2000 rms at least. Once I did that, I could tell a difference from the SIA and Audiopipe. I would stay away from full range amps. This sub crushes lows and you don’t get heavy lows from a Taramps/SFB/etc in my experience. I would put it to the test and literally flex it as much as I could (with clean power, not distortion) and I would open trunk expecting it to be clipping but never. It is truly meant for abuse. Even having it on the SIA 3500 and seeing over 3k RMS, my clipping light would never blink. I had never smelled coil even during the first few months (break in period). And just so you know, sundown has the best warranty. There’s no BS. You send it to them with a receipt and wap, they send it backed fixed. I’ve never sent this sub in obviously because I’ve never had a problem with it but I have sent stuff back on warranty before. One cool thing is you can get drop in recone kits online and beef it up if you want for around $200. You could do an 8 layer coil with a ZV6 spider or even progressive roll. Though I never reconed it, I really want to. I will sell anything for the right price but it doesn’t make sense to ever get rid of this one. I usually keep it around 2000-2500 RMS and only rock single subs. This one is absolutely perfect. ... show more
