  • What your RMS!
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure Subwoofer
I got these for my son, was a starter set that came with a box for a good price.. MTX is a good brand and they would have lasted if my son followed instructions. He blew them first day. The recommended Rms for amp is 100 the amp he was using was 800 rms. So now he has to replace them. He said sounded great until they didn’t. I wasn’t home he didn’t have patience to wait until the weekend when I get home. Anyways good speakers for the money just watch your power rating, root mean square (rms) and just don’t go off watts. ... show more

  • Here Is The Truth
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
First off the package came on time, nothing was missing and none of the speakers were blown. Second the AMP you see in the picture above is not the AMP you will be receiving. I do not know why, Photo Shop, who cares that is not what you will be getting. The AMP is not as bad as it seems. Yes during hot weather, when an AMP is in a hot ass trunk it will over heat. Makes since right? The speakers are great, you need a bigger AMP to get your speakers to really hit hard. Like most people said it is a great starter for a car. I have a 95 Honda Accord and it fits just fine in the trunk. You may want to look up a way to hold it still though. It tends to move around back there. IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS POST. DO NOT ALWAYS GO FOR AMAZONS THIS IS WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT WITH THIS CRAP. NO DO NOT DO IT. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT BUY 8 GAUGES OR 4 GAUGES HERE EITHER. Go pick one up somewhere else local. At least then you can see how thick the wire is. It is winter or something like it now, so I have no had a problem with over heating. Take my advice, go back, and just get the subs. I just saved you money. I used 4 gauge wire also. No this does not come with a wiring kit and a bunch of instructions. Its the amp, the subs, and some screws and extra fuses. Here is the truth from a constant Amazon shopper. I hate seeing people get screwed and just want honest detailed facts. You can buy this or just the subs. I do not care, your choice. Do not get the Pyramid PB717X. It is not for this SUB. Get a ONE BRIDGE amp, because you will need to cut into the box and rearrange the wires. That's to much work, plus the box is very nice. Here you have it Amazon Shoppers. Hope I could help and save people money. ... show more

  • Awesome sealed enclosure 12's!
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure Subwoofer
The media could not be loaded. Installed these with a Stinger 700watt monoblock amp into the back a W210 Mercedes Wagon and they sound awesome for the price (or any price to be honest) Yea, ported boxes make more bass this is true, but sometimes I do not like overbass to the point it drowns everything else out so these fit the 'crisp bass' need perfectly! I ended up buying these along with a single 12" in a ported box with the intention of only keeping one, and so far these are in the lead. For electronic music or even metal with tight bass, these absolutely round out the system perfectly. I am not even fully broken in on these yet and they are meeting my needs wonderfully. A few decades ago a setup like this would have cost x4 the price easily, sometimes I think we take for granted how nice of a car audio system you can build today on a budget. Only downfall to them to be honest for me is the speaker ports are on the back, so when I set them to fire upright as I like to do in a wagon, you have to be careful how you place them as to not pull the speaker wires out. 9/10 Overall 10/10 Value ... show more

  • Yooo MTX, Where's the quality control!?
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure Subwoofer
The Subs look awesome, the box is beautiful and the price is nice. I installed these subs with a Hifonics Zeus Gamma 1200.1D which puts out about 450w rms at @ 2ohms. With the gain bareley on for my ritual 2 week break in period the subs seemed to bump harder than they are suppose too. I double checked everything: breakers, wiring, batteries, ect.... Low and behold the problem is the ohm load. the ohm load determines how much power the amp puts out. in this case as you can see from the pic we're getting close to the 1 ohm mark(1.6). which means the subs are getting more power than i intended from the amp i selected. Closer to 550w instead of the 450w thats needed. If i left the set-up the way it was the speakers would have blown for sure in a day or 2. maybe i'll keep them an get a smaller amp that puts out about 500w at 1ohm or keep the box and replace the subs with 2ohm dvc subs wired in series-parallel for a 2 ohm final load. either way its more time and money than i wanted to invest in a budget build for my daily driver. i got talked into buying these subs by a friend that swears by MTX. He's an idiot & MTX are jerks for not checking these things. if you tell us the ohm load is 1.6 from the start we can plan a build that allows for that. but instead i got 8ga pwr/gnd when it should be 4ga and the subs pulling a 1ohm load instead of 2ohms. Thanks for nothing MTX this is the last dollar you will ever get from me or anyone i know...... Update 9/25/23: I've decided to keep the subs and the box. As for the subs, I ordered a ported box for more ventilation and seperate terminals for each speaker since they are SVC I don't have many options. Separately they should be 4ohms or close to it and I can have a solid month to break them in before wiring to 2ohms for more power. After I break them in it won't matter if the multimeter says 1.6 ohms because at that point they can handle the power. Just so you know I always overpower the amps in my build by 25% so the amp doesn't have to work as hard to make the RMS payload. For example if I have 2-12" 2 ohm DVC subs that need 500w RMS each that's 1000w RMS. I get an amp that puts out about 1250w certified at a 2 ohms. As for the box, its really purrty so I'll use it in another build later on down the line. Shout out to Bid D Wiz @ Williston Audio Labs on youtube. They look much smaller in the pictures let me tell ya. Yes they’re 2 12 inch subs, and you don’t need to be a mathematician to know these puppies are going to be huge. But let me tell ya, these are big. I love them.
