  • Wow, great sound at a great price!
Fantastic value for a modest price!! Being a sealed box, this thing has some serious punch. I've got the low-pass around 60-80 Hz so I'm not dredging up mud. (It may be clean at 40 HZ, I just haven't had time to test it yet)The Planet Audio 1500 watt (400 RMS) amp obviously isn't high-end but it puts out clean sound and the fit and finish is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. I read somewhere that a better amp will make the sub sound even better but the Planet Audio seems to work just fine. My first attempt at adding a sub was a kicker 10" sealed box and a kicker 125-watt amp but it, well, sucked so I returned it. Overall, I am very satisfied with this MTX package except as noted below. I played about 30 songs today that ranged from Rap to Hip-hop to Classic Rock to new metal and with only a moderate adjustment to the gain control knob each music style was properly represented. For anyone on a smaller budget, if you have the space definitely take a look at this kit or get the sub box by itself and buy your own quality amp and wiring kit. Pros: MASSIVE sound and the speakers look really cool Clean(er) bass due to it having a sealed box No trunk death rattle at high volume (YMMV - my car has a fully insulated trunk) Remote gain control knob - great for those times when you don't want extra bass but don't want to stop and pull the fuse Cons: Questionable wiring kit quality No default speaker grilles or bars included - style and tastes vary so I can kinda understand this but at the very least something compatible should be an add-on option I won't take off a star for the Boss wiring kit that was included with the amp. As you can see in the picture, their 8 gauge hot lead compared to a Scosche 8 gauge kit shows a huge difference. The Boss wire is fine-strand wire and the plastic is very soft, almost like lamp-cord wire whereas the Scosche plastic is firmer but not hard and the strands are a good bit thicker (My automatic wire strippers couldn't even strip the Boss wire insulation it was so soft). I'm not sure which one is really 8 gauge but I'll keep my Scosche kit and save the Boss kit for random shop projects since I'll never use that stuff inside a car. My config, if you are interested: 2018 Challenger - 6 speaker Alpine (stock) - 8" touchscreen head unit (stock) Scosche Speaker level to RCA converter (tapped into rear speakers with 3M Scotchlok tap connectors) Planet Audio 1500 Watt amp (400 RMS ) - Remote startup activated from converter listed above MTX Terminator Dual 12" Scosche 8 Gauge wiring kit and 40 Amp Maxi-fuse GS Power's 12 inch Bar Grille (x2) uxcell HS-023 Stainless Steel 304 Compression Spring Draw Toggle Latch Clamp, 95mm Long, Pack of 4 (finicky to install - have to open latch hook angle a bit and also angle the screws into the underside of the sub box - pre-drilled small pilot holes) Even though I'm using a latch system I will still be creating something to wedge between the top of the sub box and the bottom of the speaker shelf. Future plans: I'm going to add a small capacitor as insurance against starving the amp and the charging system/battery. ... show more

  • Fantastic speaker
I don't write these often but and not right away but I've been bumping these in my car for like 10 months with zero problems even on 5 hour road trips they've been great. Wish they would have come with a cover to protect them in my trunk but still worth every cent
Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2024 by These are great. I have to sets on my bike one in the front for freeway pegs and one in the back for the passenger. I won't write reviews until I've had something a while it's been a few months and they work fine

  • Do they even read the reviews???
ALMOST everything is great. Their are literally YEARS worth of reviews and complaints about the wiring kit that comes with this kit. But yet here it is in 2021 and they're STILL sending crappy wiring with this set. After purchasing a different wiring kit so I could properly hook everything up it sounds great. Awesome set for the money. Keep in mind though that this is a basic starter setup. If you push these speakers they are going to blow. Recommend professional installation if you don't know how to set everything up. Delivery was fast. It even came over a week early. It was a pain in the ass to install but that was my car, not the product. Well worth the money. Would be 5 stars if they actually read the reviews and sent a proper wiring kit. ... show more

  • Great for the price
They hit harder then I exspected usually u gotta pay thousands of dollars for a good system but this one I have no complaints about they sound great hit hard and the amp runs great with them I would recommend getting a capacitor though it just helps keep things stable that’s just me though I’ve always bought a capacitor just to keep power to it and the battery without draining it but all in all great product ... show more

  • Subs are solid. Amp is garbage
Everything it says about the amps power is total BS. I tested the output myself and it’s 170 watts when it starts clipping. I ran if for a little while just because I had it. But it blew eventually, and I replaced it with a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D. Also, like many others have said, the wiring kit is trash, I threw that away. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this garbage
Purchased this kit about a month ago and the right speaker already blew. Took it to some professionals to install and tune it, everything was working pretty decently and just a week ago the speaker already blew I know this is more of budget speakers, however I wouldn’t have thought that they were gonna blow 3 weeks in at half capacity. Don’t cheap out on subs guys, or you’ll regret it. Not to mention the terrible wiring kit. ... show more

  • Awesome buy!
replaced the entire stereo system in my 04 Mustang. New head unit 4 speakers and this subwoofer with amp. Wow what a difference! I used the wiring kit and didn't have any issues, I did have to do a lot of research to set up the amp----I'M old! I will tell you getting that subwoofer in the truck of my 04 Mustang was kind of a challenge, had to remove some plastic trim and truck latch--and it was still a very tight fit, but well worth it! ... show more

  • Amp super hot one song! Don’t use wire kit
The media could not be loaded. I guess I’m used to high end systems.. I bought this because I just wanted to add a little bass to my stock system on my 2015 s550 Benz .. not happy . Amp heated up and turned off while tested . Had to put everything on low to not clip the amp off from overheating. SMH .. I had one 12” kicker with a real 800 watt amp that put the setup to shame on my Audi . Looks like this kit is just for beginners not for real Music lovers. ... show more
