These type of 12v battery chargers are pretty similar. They utilize a trickle charge (under 2 watts) to keep a battery charged when not in use. They will not revitalize an old battery, and a failing battery will not renew itself. They are best on a healthy battery and work to increase its useful life. They are particularly useful on smaller 12v batteries used in motorcycles, atv, lawn equipment and the like, but work on any 12v battery. What stands out about this unit over similar ones is the customer service. I had a unit fail after 8 months of use. I contacted the company via their email address (found in their manual) and had a response the same day. A new unit was shipped and received within days.     • Suction cup's are garbage

I got this for a pick-up that isnt driven very often and the battery has got dead several times, this unit does seem to work to keep the battery up but the suction cups that would attach the unit to a window are trash, The first day I installed it I went out to check it at the end of the day and found it laying on the seat upside down, the window is clean and the cups are clean but they dont hold more then a few minutes. Any suggestions it has to be in a window because of where it is parked?? ... show more

I don't use it outside and don't use the suction cups but it works for what I need. I have a second car that I don't use often, sometimes for months at a time but when I do it starts. An unused car battery will die if not run fairly often and I hate needing to use my car and it not starting. I have retired and only use my car because it has a hitch and I can pick up things with my trailer, not often but necessary when I need to. This always keeps it fully charged and I don't need to worry that the clock or the stereo has syphoned away all the energy needed for just occasional use.     • Have purchased over five and only one has failed... Not sure why.

Over the past year I have purchased one of these for all my cars and tractor. All have worked well. In the Texas sun. Out side. One failed after a month of use and I am not sure why. Contacted the seller and the cost was refunded right away. I will certainly order another and remain satisfied with my purchases. I find it optimal to position the charger so that it receives direct sun in the AM and then about noon partial shade. Texas sun can be BRUTAL... So after a few years of outdoor sun Two of my units failed. The Blue LED no longer lit up and there was no voltage in direct sun. I was able to make a simple repair. 1 - Remove the small plastic bump caps at the back of the device and remove all the screws 2 - Carefully and slowly pry off the back of the unit. The small wires that connect to the solar cell get stuck to the backing 3 - Check both small wires coming off the solar cell and simply re-solder them if needed... ... show more

    • Trickle Charger For ATV

Set this up on Polaris Sportsman because Polaris recommends a trickle charger and my ATV has a built in port. I had to adapt the cable a bit as its housing is a bit larger than standard and would not easily fit into port on Polaris. Seems to keep battery charged good between rides. Nice in the winter or if you don't ride very often. Too early see if it prolongs battery life. We'll see and may update later. I did not use the suction cups. Used their holes to screw to garage facing. More stable and works well for me. ... show more
