I purchased 2 of these fans to help keep my 6’x5’ ft plastic shed cooler in the Texas heat. They are basically small PC fans that are powered by sunlight. The fans are relatively quiet, but if there isn’t enough sunlight to power them they do beep. The beep may get tiring if you are exposed long time to it, but for my shed it’s not a problem. Considering they are 30 bucks each I think they work great. These are intended for basic airflow so don’t expect the output to be of a box fan. I wanted to love this product but just cant. We live in Arizona - full of sunshine. When the ad says "needs direct sunlight" it doesn't say that if there is dust in the air or a little cloud over part of the sun, it wont work either. I'm surprised at how hard it is to get it to work even when I'm dripping sweat because the sun is so bright. In addition, when it does work, the fan just isn't strong. You almost wouldn't know its blowing unless you put your hand up to it. ... show more

The solar panel is smaller than it looks in the listing (it looks rectangular in the listing but it's square). I'm using it in our small chicken coop and I wish the fan was stronger because it's been so hot, but the chickens do like to sit front of it on their roost.

I bought this 3 years ago and finally got around to installing it Saturday. Initially, it was partly cloudy and I could watch the fan lurch each time the sun peeked out. When the sun was fully out, the fan ran fast, doing a good job for an hour. It hasn’t spun properly since. It’s beautiful, sunny and 80-ish outside today, but no fan. It still lurches occasionally, but the fan won’t turn. It’s well past any warranty period, but it’s important for potential customers to know it’s not a solution for anything. ... show more

    • Probably not worth the money.
They are very small and not powerful at all. If the sun is not shining directly full force on the panel, they will not run. Any hint of shade or cloud and all you get is a weird whine but no movement of blades.

    • One fan doesn’t make much air movement.
This is really a great product. Put the solar panels in the sun and the fan spins. I bought a larger solar pack of two that made my little fan spin much faster. There was a litter of kittens in an outside cage and it provided them with air flow in The hot summer we had. The larger panels come with a built in on and off switch. That was great! Next summer it goes in my pool supply room. Oh! They also have Awesome customers service! 5 Stars for sure. ... show more
