  • Works exactly as it should and cheaper than the other option.
As usual Amazon has a different photo than the actual product so I included one. Product was installed on my 2009 Yamaha FZ-1. Sportbike speedometers are very inaccurate to the + side to try and get you to slow down. After making a change of 17/45 to 16/47 gearing I was a total of -16.7% off. After following the directions I had this installed and programed in under 45 min. Now my GPS and onboard speedometer match 100% and I'm very pleased. The Odometer will be reading under milage now but I just see that as a plus if I ever decide to sell in the future. ... show more

  • PERFECT FIX for my 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600
It's unanimous - 5 stars from all reviewers thus far - including me! I installed this on my 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600 to fix the 10% error in my speedometer (a 'feature' of Kawasaki motorcycles, btw). The installation was fairly straightforward, considering the location of the Nomad's speed sensor (which is behind the left engine cover). The instruction booklet was very clear and easy to follow. It took me about 45 minutes to install on the Nomad. After installing and setting the correction factor (-9.7 for my bike) the speedometer reads in perfect agreement with my GPS - from 5 MPH to 80 MPH (didn't test it higher, but I'm sure it would be perfect at any speed). I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to have a perfectly accurate speedometer. ================================================================ DETAILS OF INSTALLATION FOR 2007 NOMAD VN1600: (Note: before installing, you should use a GPS to determine your indicated and actual speeds. You'll need these to calculate your conversion factor. For example, my Nomad indicated 72 MPH, when the GPS showed I was actually going 65 MPH. The correction factor for my bike was therefore -9.7, which I obtained by using the formula provided in the instructions: 65 / 72 X 100 - 100 = -9.7 ) 1. Remove the seats and the left cover (with the key - the cover that hides the tool box). 2. Remove the heel shift lever (the toe shifter can remain attached) to make room for the left engine cover. 3. Remove the 4 bolts holding the left engine cover (this is just a cover - doesn't contain gaskets or anything else to worry about) 4. Pull the engine cover away from the engine - you won't be able to remove it completely since the left floorboard is still attached. But you just need to pull it out far enough to access the speed sensor's cable. 5. Find the speed sensor - sitting on top of the lower engine case - you'll see the pink wires coming out of it. 6. Trace the speed sensor wires to its connector, about 6 inches from the sensor. 7. Disconnect the connector (press the retaining clip down). 8. Put a little dielectric grease on the two connectors on the SpeedoDRD, and click them into place between the connectors you just disconnected in step 7, above. 9. Route the SpeedoDRD cable along the other cables going up to the area under the seat. Use the supplied cable ties to secure the cable to the bike's other cables. I further routed the end which contains the LED light and button into the area where the Nomad's tool box is stored. This way, I can now just open the left cover and access the SpeedoDRD's simple controls to recalibrate the speedometer (or access its other features). 10. Program the SpeedoDRD following the provided instructions. Really pretty simple. 11. Reinstall the left engine cover and tighten the 4 bolts. 12. Reinstall the heel shifter. 13. Reinstall the seats and close the left cover. 14. Go ride and enjoy a perfectly accurate speedometer! ... show more

  • Awesome product, very easy to install and program Y1 on '06 FZ1!!!
Wow awesome product!!! It took longer to remove the covers and lift the fuel tank then to install and program. I viewed several videos and read the installation instructions online before I received the calibrator. I found the speed sensor connector right away and checked it as recommended to varify it is the speed sensor. Turn the ignition ON, but do not start the engine. While the bike was up on it's center stand, spin the rear tire and look for a speedometer reading. Then disconnect the speed sensor connector and repeat. If NO speed reading then you have the correct connector to attatch the speed calibrator. After connecting the calibrator, I routed the cable along the wire harness for the rear lights and ziptied it in place making sure the circuit board was easy to view, but the button will not be touched by anything. I printed out the programming instructions earlier using GPS readings from 60mph. Even though I watched videos of the programming, I was still very nervous of messing it up by pressing the button at the wrong time. I am happy to say that went very well as I was done before I knew it. In fact I actually said to myself "That's it?" when I was done :) My speedo is now calibrated perfectly! I highly recommend this product and I will install one of these on ALL my future bikes. ... show more

  • Does the job, as advertised
I bought the Y1 model for my wr250r I honestly think this device should hook up to a laptop with a usb for easier programming. As it is, you kinda have to read the programming instructions a few times, then watch a demo video to get an idea as to how to program it. After that I kinda feel like your eyes are bouncing back and forth between the instructions and the device as you actually have a go at programming it. Nevertheless, I was able to get it correctly programmed on my first try. So I suppose as long as you read carefully and pay attention to what you're doing, you should be fine. It works as advertised, and I am excited about the ability to reprogram later when I switch to shorter gearing. Also, considering that, stock, the wr250r speedo over indicates by about 12% (mine said 50 when the radar said 44), you kinda have to do it, if actually knowing how fast you're going is important to you. ... show more

  • Worked for Grom Clone
Ran into issues called the manufacturer and they were EXCELLENT at helping me diagnose . After 2 phone calls they determined my Grom Clone didn’t have a pull-up resistor added 10K resistor and it’s all good . If your Speedo reads 0 after installing and programming add the resistor between the Blue and Red wire on the device . Also the Blue wire goes to the bike and white to the sensor . ... show more

  • Fixed my problem
I noticed that my Yamaha FZ1 was giving me speeds that were around 8% higher than what my phone GPS was showing. So I looked into it and apparently this is a very common problem for sportbikes. Installation was kind of tricky, but once it's hooked up and programmed, it completely fixes the problem. My speedometer is now always within a half mph of the true speed. ... show more
