  • Works well
Color: Orange
Purchased to split medium logs for camp fires. Works well when mounted to a base. Took a little to get the hang of setting on the splitter to allow full swings of a hand sledge to split, but once that was learned it split all the logs fast and easy.

  • Works nicely as a kindling splitter!
Color: Orange
You'll need to mount this onto something else to make it useable. I used 4 x 4 scraps and fabricated a base for it. As other reviews mention, yes, it's a bit tricky to get to the screw holes, but if you use a longer driver attachment, it will work. It arrives quite sharp. I've probably made 1/4 of a face cord of kindling with it so far, and it's held up fairly well. There are a few chips in the blade at this point, but that's to be expected with oak and maple. I think I can just give it a quick filing or sharpening with a rotary tool at some point. You'll need some sort of hammer with this. I just got a cheapy one pound hammer at Harbor Freight, and I should have gotten something just a bit heftier. Something like a blacksmith 2lb hammer would probably be ideal. Watch your shins using this, though! Sometimes the kindling pieces will go flying, so at least wear long pants if not some additional shin/foot protection. ... show more

  • Excellent non-mechanical kindling splitter
Color: Orange
I have been splitting kindling for 20 years. At 72 and after multiple shoulder surgeries, I needed a simple and easy to use device. This fit the bill 100%. I highly recommend it.

  • Worked OK, upper cage is too short to prop wood
Color: Black-ML
Ordered this to split firewood down to smaller pieces safely without having to swing an axe, rather using a sledge. The build quality seems solid and the blade is very sharp right out of the box. The frame has mounting holes at the bottom to secure it to a stump or other surface for splitting. Highly recommended to keep the splitter from tipping over during a swing. My main issue with the design is that the upper part is not tall enough to prop wood inside of before you split it, so you have to sit it in the blade, tap it a little to get it stuck onto the blade, then take your swing. I think I'd like it much better were that cage about 6" taller. It will serve the purpose but the design is flawed in my opinion. ... show more

  • Wood splitter for camp fires
Color: Black-ML
We took it camping and we bought wood from a store in that was in different sizes in thickness. The splitter worked well with smaller pieces. It easily split the precut pieces into two for better burn. The large pieces of wood were really hard to split into smaller sections.. sometimes it would not split at all, if to large. I'm sure it would very from wood to wood. Some wood is harder than others. So i would say this item is good for small and softer wood definitely not log sections. ... show more
Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2024 by I bought this headlight and it had bad circuit because it would operate and if you moved your position it would shut off. Move it around and it would come back on. Could not send it back because of time limit on return. So I bought another one and it does the same thing. Beware.

  • Finally - a manual log splitter at a good price
Color: Black-ML
I have been looking to buy (or make) something like this for a few years. They were all priced too high. $75 or more. This one has an open loop design with the opening being just shy of 8-inches. I wondered if the cutting edge would be sharp enough or if I would have to take a file to it to make it work. It is nice and sharp from the factory. I was able to split 6-inch diameter logs with three to four thwacks with a small, 3-pound sledge hammer. The bolt holes allowed me to bolt the device to my chopping block. The loops got in the way of my drill as I tightened the bolts, but I was able to manage. ... show more

  • Great product.
Color: Black-LL
I read a few reviews about how I should buy the more expensive original version of this but it’s over 100 dollars more so I couldn’t justify it. This works perfectly well for me so while I can’t say it’s inferior to the original, it more than meets my expectations. Very solid feeling.
