  • Bug traps

We really like to use these to get the bugs off our rose bushes and peach trees. The lures work well.

  • Attracts a lot of beetles
Size: 1 Pack Style: Beeetle Trap
I know they say these things just attract more to your yard, but I already had a bad infestation. I got swarmed by beetles as soon as I walked out the door with this thing. In two days, I caught what you see in the ziplock bag from two traps, so I'd say the traps are effective. I'm averaging nearly a quart of beetles per day, per trap. Why ziplock? Well, that leads me to their only real con. The catch bag fills up fast, and they are hard to empty. Even if the bag didn't fill up in two days like mine did, you'd still have to empty the bag well before the scent lozenge sublimated away, because a bag of dead beetles stinks and probably repulses other beetles at least a little. So...how to get them out of the catch bag? There's no way to do it except to turn it upside down and shake it. If you do that while the things are still alive, at least some of them will fly away. They'll live a couple days in the bag. What I do is put the full catch bag inside the ziplock, then put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. You can then dump the frozen beetles out into the ziplock and dispose of them. DO NOT dump them into a trash can without first encasing them in ziplock. Once they thaw, they really stink, like think dog poo and rotten meat mixed together and left inside a plastic box on a hot day. There's another brand out there that has a catch bag with a ziplock bottom for easy dumping. You might still need to freeze them solid so they don't get away while emptying, though. As for the longevity of the scent lozenge, I'd guess it might last 3 weeks. It smells like cloves and some sort of flower, maybe lilac. Kinda nice, and might not be hard to duplicate the scent. Gonna give that a try, for science. ... show more

  • Works as advertised
Size: 1 Pack Style: Beetle Trap Refill
Great for attracting Japanese beetles. We attached these (awkwardly but it worked) to another brand of bag as the price was significantly lower and they worked just as well!

  • Spectracide Beetle Trap
Size: 1 Pack Style: Beeetle Trap
It could use a heaver duty and bigger bag. Had to use tape to cover drain holes to stop the beetles from working their way out. It does help to control the number of beetles in my yard. After the Japanese beetle season is over - put the Dual Lure in a sealed bag. Keep in a cool place and reuse it the next summer. The Lure works great for two summers in PA. Thank you ... show more

  • This works...but a few bits of advice before you use:
Size: 1 Pack Style: Beeetle Trap
This works! I'll reiterate some important points everyone should know before using: 1) set up all the stakes and bags BEFORE opening the lure. The lure attracts swarms of beetles quickly! After a bad experience on my 1st attempt, I decided to wear disposable gloves to open the lure while the lure was inside a zipper storage bag. I did all of this while I was inside my house. I then zipped the storage bag and went outside to the staked spectricide bug bag. I QUICKLY unzipped the storage bag, secured the lure to the staked bug bag, threw my latex gloves into the storage bag, zipped it, and ran back inside. (This will only seem excessive to those of you who have not been covered by a swarm of beetles and had to pick them off your body, clothes, and out of your hair, but we're at the same time attracting MORE beetles because you smelled like the lure.) 2) Put these bug bags AT LEAST 30 feet DOWNWIND of the plants you are trying to save from the beetles. I also advise putting it away from areas you want to be (like patios and porches). Otherwise you are just luring them to the food source (your plants), as you WILL attract beetles that weren't already in your garden. Keeping them away from human sitting areas also keeps them off you. 3) Empty the bags or replace the bags often! When it starts to smell, the beetles will no longer be lured. They know the scent of their death and will avoid it. 4) To catch even more beetles, add a bucket of soapy water below the bag to catch the ones that fall off the outside. I also just empty the bag into the bucket to kill them in the water. I'm currently using 4 bags, set up was easy after I figured out the first one. I'm a bit disturbed by the amount of beetles that began swarming from out of my lawn when I set these up, but I'd much rather attract them to these bags than to have them devastate my plants! ... show more

  • Works so-so
Size: 1 Pack Style: Beetle Trap Refill
I bought this as I have Japanese beetles that love to eat some of the flowers in my garden every year. I have a small garden (6'x6') and I put two of these in the garden, one on each end. I say it works so-so as I end up with beetles in the bags. And I also end up with a lot of beetles still eating their way thru my flowers. So, do I recommend it? Hard to say. It's better than nothing but not as good as I'd like it to be. ... show more

This bag works amazingly! It is a little gross with all the bugs in a bag still alive but it really works.
