Frequently asked questions

IDEX stands for Independent Dual Extruder, which means the Sovol SV04 3D Printer features two extruders that operate independently. This allows for printing two different materials or colors at the same time, or using one extruder for infill and the other for a water-soluble support structure, significantly improving printing efficiency and possibilities.

Yes, the Sovol SV04 3D Printer is equipped with an auto-leveling feature. It uses a sensor to detect the print bed's surface at multiple points, automatically adjusting the print head's height to ensure a consistently level print bed. This feature significantly aids in improving print quality and reduces the manual effort needed in leveling the bed.

The Sovol SV04 3D Printer offers a larger build volume of 300 x 300 x 400mm, which allows for printing large objects or multiple smaller objects in one go. This large build volume provides more flexibility and creativity in your 3D printing projects, enabling you to undertake ambitious prints that would not be possible on printers with a smaller build volume.

The 32-bit silent motherboard in the Sovol SV04 3D Printer ensures smoother and faster processing of prints, supporting more complex models and slicing software features. Additionally, it operates with significantly reduced noise levels, making the printing process quieter and more suitable for home or office environments without disturbing the surrounding area.

  • Top printer in my collection!
Model: SV07 Plus
After owning several (4) Sovol 3D printers and recently adding the Klipper screen to my SV06 Plus, I knew that the added features of the SV07 Plus made the printer a worthwhile purchase for me. When the printer first arrived I was very excited to get it put together. It was very well packaged as all of my Sovol printers have been in the past have been and there were no sign of any damage to the printer or any of the components. 2 of the 3 bed adjustment wheels did appear to have loosened during shipping and the wheels and springs had to be threaded back onto the bed adjustment screws which was no big deal. Other than that, assembly was a breeze and I had the printer put together in less than 30 minutes. The printer includes both bed adjustment wheels/springs as well as the static mounts if you prefer to rely on the printer to maintain your bed level (similar to SV06/SV06 Plus). With this printer I opted to use the bed adjustment wheels and haven’t had any issues with prints not sticking to the bed. Just make sure you calibrate it correctly and well the first time and you shouldn’t have any problems. It’s also a good idea to print a first layer test to ensure that your z offset is correct as this is a huge factor with prints and how well they’ll stick to the bed. Unlike many of the previous printers that I’ve owned, the L and R Z motors in the SV07 plus are able to make independent adjustments and the Z-Tilt bed leveling has been spot on for me and I’ve had nothing but beautiful, perfect 1st layers on all of my prints. I’ll also say that Klipper has been a game changer for me and is a perfect match for the SV07 Plus; this is by far the best printer that I have (or have ever had) in my collection. With the exception of the large part cooling fan this is the quietest printer that I’ve used. It may be due to the use of V roller wheels in the SV07 over linear rails but it is certainly a welcomed change in my opinion. I mentioned that Klipper has been a game changer for me and I mean that. Having the ability to send prints directly from my PC to the printer over Wifi and not having to move an SD or USB back and forth between pc and printer has been such a convenience and should be standard on all printers moving forward. I’ve also recently switched from using Cura to Orca slicer and added settings in Klipper to probe the print area and run z tilt calibration before every print but I’d suggest first sticking to the basics until you settle into and get to know the printer first. There’s a lot you can do with klipper but you don’t want to over complicate things right off the bat. All in all I would agree with the other great reviews of this printer. I already have several printers in my collection and didn’t think that I’d own another “bed slinger” but after adding the klipper screen to my SV06 plus, my love for 3D printing has been re-energized and the SV07 plus is now my all-time favorite which will be my baseline for any future printer comparisons. It’s been a fantastic printer and one that I can trust to print just about any job that I can throw at it not have to worry about the job failing. It is a printer that I will continue to recommend to all of my 3d printing friends and the price and features included make it a worthwhile competitor to many of the more expensive printers available today. Pro’s Klipper w/touch screen Includes double sided PEI sheet and additional adhesive bed sticker. Hard bed mount points for bed OR bed leveling wheels Includes Accelerometer for input shaping Tool Tray for storage with included tools (I love this) Built in LED lights on the print head which can be turned on/off from klipper screen Very quiet and very fast printing! Cons Print head ribbon cable is flexible and can potentially get caught on the gantry fan. I printed a simple cable “spine” that holds the ribbon cable out of the way. ... show more

  • A True Love Hate Relationship
Model: SV07 Plus
I got this printer less than a year ago as a replacement when my old printer developed issues that just couldn’t be solved. Right out of the box there were issues with two of the Pom wheels. No biggie they are cheap and I already had plenty of spares. Then I went to calibrate it and run a few test prints. Nothing. It would not extrude any filament. So had to tear down the extruder to find a massive jam of red filament. I was using grey… so either this was a test unit or was returned for new. That fixed it finally would produce a print. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print some larger models and each one kept warping up off the bed. Same pla same temps but prints kept warping up in different places. Got so bad that I had to start using 10mm wide brims and a glue stick for prints that never needed any before. I tried a couple different PEI sheets but none of the aftermarket ones fit the alignment screws… next came the firmware update disaster. I followed the instructions to the letter but it didn’t matter. They bricked the klipper pad. Sovol support sent me a replacement and a month later I was finally able to get it fixed. Then the curtain fan died. So I had to replace that too. Then the xaxis stepper started making a grinding noise… replaced that and then the 1st layer issues started. The printer will produce a mesh and claims it has applied it when printing but you can watch the zscrews and the steppers don’t turn at all on the first layer. I have verified the startup code is correct but still it doesn’t work. In the few times I’ve been able to get it to apply the mesh manually and the print stick to the bed, it’s fantastic. Excellent print quality too but I just can’t stand how much of a pain this thing has been. I’m ready to chuck it in the trash… I contacted sovol again about all of this and they so far haven’t responded to my emails. I’ve had this thing for 6 months and it’s basically been out of service for 3 of them waiting for parts… Never again SOVOL never again… ... show more
