Description

Southern Homewares offer some of the best solutions in the trapping business! The black hole gopher trap is no exception. It can catch one gopher at a time and requires no winding, batteries or maintenance. To deploy find the gopher tunnel in the yard and dig out the center of the mound. Place the trap opening in line with the gopher tunnel. Place a few handfuls of dirt inside the trap. Set the spring by pushing the bar down until it latches and then mound dirt around the outside of the trap for stability. Make sure to leave the small opening end of the trap uncovered. Since gophers like darkness they will attempt to stuff dirt inside the trap to eliminate the light. As it pushes dirt into the trap the mechanism will spring and it will eliminate the gopher. Rugged plastic and weather resistant construction means this trap can be used over and over again for years of repeat use. Trap is non toxic and requires no poison, baits, or harmful chemicals. Trap color is black. Overall trap dimensions are 6. 63" x 3. 43" x 6. 63". Includes one trap.

    • No chemicals! Perfect!
I have two of these. Been catching lots of pocket gohpers with it. There are a couple of tricks to using it. Put it in the middle of a run. Try to place it as level as possible...uphill won't work...they just fill it with dirt. A piece of carrot helps attract them.

After having the original black hole traps for years and them being very good, I thought these easy set ones would be the same. I am very disappointed in their performance. to make them work, I have to manipulate them so that they will trigger easier otherwise the gophers just fill it up with dirt. Seems well built. Trigger a bit of Rube Goldberg complexity, but it works. Gopher I was going to trap has since abandoned the hole, so no experience how well the trap works in real situations. One note: past experience taught me that washing the trap to remove all scents, clean hands and using gloves when handling it, and minimizing contact vastly improved odds of getting the critter. ... show more

I’ve tried several other types of traps and really wanted these to work. I bought 4 and I’ve had these traps a couple weeks and haven’t caught anything. The concept is good and the product is well made but the triggers are too tight. It takes quite a bit of pressure to fire the trap. The gofer just piles up dirt inside the trap and digs under it or pushes it up out of the way. Does Amazon sell dynamite? ... show more

I followed the instructions I researched. The directions were sound, but I guess the moles and gophers in my area are smarter. They kept stuffing the traps full of dirt.

I have used this trap twice and both times I caught the rodent that night or just a few hours after I set the trap. I followed the suggestion of a reviewer I had read before I bought the trap and added a few small pieces of apple through the small hole. Apparently it works!
