Top Amazon Reviews

  • Excellent quality at this price point
Color: Black
Most of the reviews here are from people explaining how they “aren’t exactly audiophiles,” and so their judgements should be taken with a grain of salt. While my opinions are definitely not the most informed, I would definitely consider myself an audiophile. With that being said, here are my thoughts on these headphones. Wired headphones will always have better audio quality than bluetooth, but sometimes you don’t want a cord getting in the way when you’re out and about. There are many headsets with much better quality out there, but these are seriously the best affordable option out there. Look no further. Sound is crisp and clear, bass is fantastic, and surround sound works great. I can pick out several layers of the music I’m listening to without much effort — these are that good. The noise cancelling mode is also very effective; I have used these on family road trips and could completely block out what was playing through the radio on full volume, as well as the sounds of the road. All I could hear was my music (in excellent quality, by the way). The transparency feature is also fantastic: using this mode I can easily hear everything happening around me, and I can even carry on full conversations without having my music disturbed. All it takes is placing your hand over the right ear to quickly switch modes. Battery life is long-lived, lasting an entire day with constant use. With less frequent use, I’ve had these last up to a week. Construction is also fantastic, the headband is actual metal and not plastic (although the ear pieces are, albeit high quality). Finally, the ear pads and padding at the headband are very soft and easy to clean. Seriously a beautifully-made piece of equipment for the price. Overall, these are excellent quality for the price — probably the best affordable option you’re gonna get. I love my high-quality audio, but I’m also a broke college kid on a budget. I couldn’t be any happier with these. They also look nice on, if that matters to you. ... show more

  • Bose QuietComfort 25 vs Soundcore Life Q30: which sounded better to me?
Color: Black
My Bose QuietComfort 25 corded ANC (auto noise canceling) headphones sound truly amazing, but after about three years, the ANC stopped working, but if there isn’t much background noise, they sound top notch, and are very comfortable to wear. Without ANC working on the Bose headphones, it’s tough to understand dialogue of movies on airplanes, so I thought I’d try the Soundcore Life Q30, which cost about 1/5th of the Bose headphones. I took the Soundcores on a series of flights this past weekend, and between the comfort, general sound quality, and ANC, I was super impressed with their performance. Today, I did a side by side comparison of the Bose (without working ANC) and the Soundcore, with ANC on and then off, optimizing the equalizer setting (with the free app), sitting in a quiet room of my home. For the test, I listened to: Baba O’Riley - The Who, Sheep - Pink Floyd, Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin, and More than a feeling - Boston. The results, which were based on my opinion only, were surprising. The Soundcore headphones, with ANC turned on, using Bluetooth mode, sounded every bit as good as the Bose headphones with no ANC and corded. With both headphones in corded mode, and no ANC on either, the Bose sounded better. I’d rate the Bose slightly higher on comfort, but the Soundcore set was definitely comfortable, and the sleek appearance of the Bose looked a little bit better than the Soundcore. I’ve had the Soundcore set for a few weeks, and estimating that I’ve used them about 10 hours, and the app shows approximately 80% remaining battery life. I have no idea how durable the Soundcore product will hold up, but so far, I am very impressed. ... show more

  • Decent sounding but not great. (would be 3.5 rounded up for customer service)
Color: Black
Some good things, some not so great. The good. The active noise cancellation is fantastic. They are very comfortable to wear for extended periods and amazing battery life. The not so good. The passive mode (I forget exactly what its called but where you can hear background noise, lets call it anti noise cancelling) is VERY noisy. I get it, you want to make the sounds around you louder. But sitting in a room with nothing on, it still sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. The dual mode connection is hit and miss. I specifically got these because of this feature. I am often on gaming on my computer and won't hear my phone ring or text notifications. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Even though I connect it to both devices. There is something wonky with the bluetooth as well when connecting to a computer. My old skullcandy Hesh, and some super cheap headphones I had bought off amazon ages ago I could go into bluetooth settings and turn off "hands free telephony" to get better sound quality out of them. With these I have to do that EVERY SINGLE TIME I connect to my PC. Granted the stock sound is better than the old headphones with the telephony enabled. But the sound quality with it disabled is even better. I've gotten to the point that I'm tired of turning it off and just leave it on. Now the worse. I bought these December of 2023, it's now mid July, and the ear cushion is starting to split. Hands down the fastest I've ever had this happen with a set of headphones like this. My old SkullCandy Hesh lasted 4 years before this happened. At the rate its starting to mess up, I'll be lucky if they last till the end of the year. And looking at them I don't know if I'll be able to replace the cushion. So they'll be in the trash heap once that happens. Update: Anker reached out to me about my issues. I followed their trouble shooting requests and there was no joy. Also sent over a photo of the ear cup tear. They sent a replacement free of charge, and I tested it out. Unfortunately, the bluetooth issues I had mentioned before persisted. So for MY use it's not the best match. However using them just on my phone and Ipad, no problems at all. Using them with PC there are extra steps involved to get the best sound quality. Both on my home build using asus bluetooth and mobo, and my lenovo laptop, so its not just a brand specific issue. BUT the customer service was great. Reached out quickly set up the replacement and I received it faster than things I ordered on Prime Day. And no they did not ask me to update the review, I can screenshot the emails. But I love a company that will stand by their product. ... show more
