Last Christmas we gave our son a pair of Sony WH-CH520 headphones and he liked them. He earned some money this summer and decided he wanted to upgrade to the high dollar pair. But we've had good experiences with renewed items on Amazon, the only return came from finding a better price on a new item after already receiving an item. So of course this is a great deal compared to new. The noise cancelling is very effective and since they're over ear headphones its very easy to become immersed in what you're listening to. The sound quality is impressive but made better when you use the app to activate surround. They're very light for headphones. There's a nice thick cushion on the band and the cups so you could wear these all day. I guess the only complaint is that it didn't come with any cables but we've got plenty of usb-c cables and these will never be used corded anyway. ... show more

I’m on my dad’s account but anyways… I wanted these headphones expect I couldn’t afford them new as a college student so I decided to give renewed a try. So far I love them. :) The noise cancellation AND the sound on these is great in my opinion. They charge fast and last hours. The quality itself is just plastic so they feel light on my head, which I’m not upset about. Everything came in it’s original packaging, this even includes the box they are sealed in. They have a nice sleek look to them. I genuinely think these are brand new and are just being sold as renewed but i don’t know. 🤷🏻♀️ I recommend buying if you can’t get them at full retail price! ... show more

This “B” (renewed) version of the Sony 1000/5’s is probably one of the best values for a top quality Bluetooth headphone currently available. It’s a no-frills presentation with the Sony “B” when it arrives. Brown Amazon box, zippered headphone case in a plastic bag, 90 day warranty info, the plug-in cord (yes, you can plug these in AND use them as Bluetooth phones!) and the power cord - see the photo. For a really in-depth review of these phones, refer to John Darko’s review of them on Darko Audio on the web. John’s review covers all the finer points in great detail. John’s video was recorded on 10/11/22 and compares the Sony WH-5000XM5’s to Bowers and Wilkins Px7 s2’s which are also $399 - the same price as the new Sony model. My take on the Sonys - - they fit well and are comfortable for a few hours - they can be used as a corded phone by leaving the power off and just plugging them in - the fold flat but they don’t fold up like the version 1-4 did. That’s not a big deal for me, I travel with ear buds, not over ear phones. - the app has a LOT of flexibility for adjusting the sound and system. - the controls work well on the right ear cup. Volume up and down, play/pause, track back or advance to name a few. - audio evaluations are inherently subjective. I have a pair of Meze 99’s Classics that I use daily as well. The Sony have great bass, the Meze phones do as well. The mid-range on the Meze seems more refined but I’m using the Ifi Zen Can amp tuned for the Meze 99’s so it’s not really a fair comparison. - not a mark or any visible defect anywhere on the “B” version that I bought. They look and sound brand new. For rhe $130 off off list for the “B” versus new, I don’t think you can get a better sound quality and app flexibility from a closed, over ear cordless phone for the price. The product sounds amazing on mobile devices and has excellent sound quality. However when connecting to pc it has errors such as a delay or poor sound quality. For gaming especially. Playing games with these headphones just isn't optimal and was disappointing but for listening to music when walking or doing something then these headphones do the job. ... show more

I am not an audiophile. I was looking to upgrade from AirPods and a very inexpensive pair of "noise cancelling" off-brand headphones. I looked at many top brands and wanted the lesser expense of refurbished before committing to the more pricey, "new" options out there. These are delivering for me! I was a bit confused about getting them started and initially thought they were defective - until I downloaded the app. That was required before I was able to use the headphones. Since then, I do not use app except for software updates and rare adjustment to equalizer in the app - not really necessary for how I use them (streaming music and videos, noise cancelling; haven't used them much for calls yet). These are very predictive and anticipate and automically change based on sound environment for noise cancelling. Music playback is worlds better than anything I have experienced with buds or my cheap headphones. If you are on the fence about upgrading to some better quality headphones, bite the bullet and go for these. The battery life is best of anything I own that runs on batteries. They appeared to be brand new out of the box (and come with a super nice case!) Incredibly happy. (Have owned them for about a month; if I remember I will update 6 months from now!) ... show more

I bought these because im an audio snob who has pile driving / construction going on 7am-6pm every day for the next month. These absolutely nailed it. They are literally shaking the ground inside my 7th floor apartment like it's jurassic park, but all I hear is the faint faint faint banging in the background while I happily listen to my music and podcasts. Thank you Sony. Y'all saved my sanity!!! The airpod noise cancelling aint got anything on these, and the noise cancelling is SO comfortable.
