  • BEST COLD POD OUT THERE!
This has got to be the most spacious and easiest to assemble cold pod. It took me a total of 5 minutes to set it up. It comes with so many things that you have to pay extra for with other companies such as: extended drainage hose, cover, 3 large bags to freeze into big blocks of ice, super easy instructions. I’m very impressed. And ONLY $100. It keeps the water cold so you don’t have to refill all the time and I like to throw in the ice blocks 5-10 mins before I go in to really make it cold. The material of the pod is super durable would not go with any other brand. When I have a bigger space I’m definitely getting their recovery barrel! ... show more

  • Nice Portable - But Small...
This is the third Ice Bath I have tried out this year. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages - one is large but rigid and not portable and a pain to set up. One is like a giant children's splash pool which is the easiest to get in and out of, is the largest at 48" across but is definitely NOT portable. Which brings me to this one from SOLISTICE. It's the smallest but is the most portable one. You get a carrying bag that makes it easy to just stow in your trunk and then you can take it to races. It has six rigid support poles, but then it also has an inflatable collar to - theoretically - hold the round shape. There is also the nicest drainpipe I have seen that has a faucet-type valve to make draining a snap. The directions are comprehensive, and easy to follow with text and pictures, and no "malapropisms" in the verbage. You get a nice snap-on cover that is the best I have used, too. And the crowning touch is three large bags to stick in your freezer and help give you a true Ice Bath experience without raiding your icemaker or forking over $5 - $10 for ice bags. I raced in my first triathlon this season this weekend so I gave it a good test when I got back. Assembling it was easy - my other bath with a rigid structure was a struggle to assemble compared with this one. I have a small front porch, yet this pod fit with room to spare. And it's close enough to my water faucet in front to easily fill it. The problem I had was the inflatable collar. The bullet shaped pump works at first, but once the collar is filled it's a struggle to get it totally inflated. It finally became impossible;e to pump any more air in, and at that point it looked like a giant clam instead of a round pod. I finally gave up and took out my paddleboard pump and then easily inflated it the rest of the way. Still not totally round, but more ellipse-like than clam-like. And once filled with water it all came together. So in I went and after 10 minutes I felt great. All of the little nagging stiffness and a pain in my right calf that I got the final 1/2 mile of the run had calmed down to nearly nothing. After a good night's sleep, I hit it again last night, and now on Monday, I'm ready to start training again. To drain I just opened the faucet and the bottom plug and the water drained quickly. Then I just took out the six support poles and folded it up and it's in the carrying bag for next time. The two drawbacks this one has are that the inflatable collar is kind of "funky" in the inflation, and then the valve is on the inside and it's easy to accidentally pull the plug out. The second drawback is that the pod is a narrow 30" across. It fits my tri-girl body just fine, but for a husky muscular guy, it would be a tight fit. OVERALL - I still like the big 48" bath that's like a giant kiddy pool for size and ease of entry and exit, but for convenience, portability, and speed of setup, this one is the best. • High quality, easy to use pod for cold plunging...with an important caveat
The Good: the Solstice Cold Pod is well made of high quality materials and is very easy to set up. Using the included pump to inflate the top rim, this thing was ready to start filling with water in about 10 minutes. It's a good size, too...I'm about 6'4" and close to 300 lbs and I was able to get up to my neck in water and even submerge my head with some contorting. The Bad: the pod doesn't do a great job of keeping water cold. I filled the pod about halfway with water (≈45 gal) from the hose (about 80° F) which took about 15 minutes. I then searched online for a calculator which allows you to input your water volume, current temperature, and desired temperature and tells you how much ice you need to add. Well, I needed to add 60 lbs. Yep, SIX. ZERO. I trekked to the ice hut where I was able to get a screaming deal (about $8 bucks for 60 lbs) which brought my water down to about 50° F (Now, to be clear, that's not really cold enough for a cold plunge. It definitely feels cold for beginners, but once you get in the groove, you really want water that's maximum 45°F). But that was ONE PLUNGE. By the next day, the water was back up 10-15° F and only slightly colder than out of the tap. I did use the included ice pouches which were able to drop the temperature about 5° F total the following morning—but that's just not enough when you have to get tap water to drop anywhere from 35°-45° basically every day. The verdict: if you're looking for a high quality, easy to set up, and portable pod for cold plunges, this is it...as long as you have a good plan for getting and keeping water cold. Best I can tell that means trekking to and from the store (a large investment of time and money), a dedicated freezer ($$) for dozens of pouches , jugs, and bottles of water constantly refreezing, a commercial ice machine ($$$), or a chiller ($$$$). ... show more

  • Well constructed and good choice for occasional use.
I'd suggest this plunge pool/cold pod if space is limited and/or you are new to use and want something to try. I collapses down flat and is highly portable. I like that it holds less water than some of the larger more expensive models, for it can be emptied and cleaned quicker and with less water waste. I don't have one of those to compare it to, but suspect those may be thicker and more durable than this one. Though this one is at a price point to allow you to try the concept and decide if investing in one of the larger more durable models is something you want to do. The valve on this can be easy opened to drain, and in my case it goes to the lawn so is not wasted. Ready to then be refilled and used as needed. I'm 6 foot tall, full size adult, and can fit into this, but the small size does not leave much extra room. Great for cooling off on a hot summer day, and/or after strenuous exercise. ... show more

  • Ripped on first use
The tub ripped down the side the first time we used it. Super disappointed.
