  • Long hesitant, finally pulled the trigger, and we ARE glad!
Size: Sparkling Water Maker Color: Icy Blue
After Consumer Reports published an article about the conservation effect of using the Sodastream products, we became interested. However, at the time same, we were skeptical, esp. about the cost savings to us and how well the water would taste, etc. Then came the Prime Day and a good deal, and we finally pulled the trigger, thinking that it would only be blown $50 if this thing did not live up to the expectation. Boy, we are glad that we did pull the trigger. This Sodastream machine immediately became a hit in our household, and we are pumping a lot of CO2 into water and saving the aluminum/plastic for not buying canned/plastic bottle water, which we used to do big time. Here is the quick summary of our impressions: [PRO] Very easy to use (don't bother with the electric One Touch - pumping is nothing) Makes good-tasting carbonated water Saves tons of resources like aluminum cans and plastic bottles [CON] The CO2 canisters are expensive (but you save when you exchange later) Need Sodastream bottles to work well, and these are also expensive Durability remains to be seen (plastic everywhere except for the CO2 valve) By the way, for flavoring, we use True Lemon packets, which are inexpensive. Of course, you can always use any fruit you may have at home. If you are a very picky carbonation affectionado, then maybe you should spend extra and get One Touch which lets you configure the carbonation settings more precisely. To use, however, this Fizzi model is more than adequate. ... show more

  • Fine Fizzi
Size: Sparkling Water Maker Color: Black
This SodaStream Fizzi is an excellent product that out-paced my expectations. I'm impressed at the simplicity of use. One-button operation. Simple but thoughtful design and quality manufacturing. They didn't cut any corners. I think the most impressive thing about the SodaStream is the CO2 canister. It's like a miniature SCUBA tank! Very well-built and designed to deliver some serious bubbles. I looked at some of those retro bar soda siphons. But the idea of using the same CO2 cartridges in my soda that are also used to shoot paint balls, fill bike tires, dust the crumbs out of your computer keyboard and such? Um... really? Are you sure that's safe? I wanted something food grade. And SodaStream - with its heavy-duty CO2 canister - is definitely that and vastly superior to those other products. As far as flavorings are concerned, I usually like plain seltzer, so I don't know about the various SodaStream flavors. But, how bad could they be? I'm sure there's a flavor out there for you. But I do make a carbonated Cold-Coffee drink that's delish! I put about an ounce or so of refrigerated, mixed Coffee-and-half-and-half (use more if you want it more coffee-ee as opposed to soda-like) in a 16-oz tumbler. Fill to the top with seltzer! YUM! (I suppose if you like ice, you could toss in a few cubes. That's up to you.) Way better than those cans of Red-and-White labeled coffee-flavored cola sold by that little-known beverage company in Atlanta, Ga. Sure. The SodaStream devices are a few bucks more than those bar-top things, but there's no way those other spritzers can compete with the SodaStream quality. It's a much better investment than a kitschy bar toy. Those other things are just props. This Fizzi is a real carbonation machine. ... show more

  • Works FANTASTIC! I Don't understand the poor reviews
Size: Sparkling Water Maker Color: Black
I read up on the reviews before I bought this, and was definitely leery given how many reviewers claimed it didn't carbonate the water or that it spewed water everywhere. I figured if it didn't work I'd send it back. I've had it for several days now and it works FANTASTIC! It took me a few tries to perfect the technique, but now I get water with lots of big bubbles (how I like it) and no aftertaste at all. I can also make it with light carbonation, which is how my husband likes his - just push it fewer times. I get NO spillage or mess - none at all. The bottle fits in there perfectly, and it's easy to get it in and out. I can only assume the poor reviews are people who aren't doing it right, or maybe they got a defective one, but mine works absolutely perfectly. I'm a huge sparkling water drinker - I find I drink a lot more water if it's bubbly. I probably drink at least 3 liters a day. Buying all that water was using up a ton of plastic, not to mention the cost. Plus we live on a sailboat so I just don't have room to store enough bottles of water! This thing takes up very little room, and it doesn't use any electricity (always a concern on a boat). I'm thrilled with my purchase! I hope it keeps working...if it doesn't last, I will come back and update my review. But for now I could not be happier. If you can't make it work, I'd suggest googling how to use it. It's gotta be user error. ... show more
