Easy to assemble and use straight out of the box. Was able to engrave with minimal adjustments and decent quality. I love the machine. The only complaint I can say is it doesn’t cut my thicker leather which is my own fault because I mistakenly purchased the 5 watt instead of the 10 watt machine.

Works great when hooked up to a PC. The MKS software does not work, so working off line from the SD card is a no go. Other than that, I am able to make stainless steel data plates which is why I got it.

Finally got my shop an area for this and opened the box. Everything is good but there was no USB in the box that is for the chip. Would be great if the seller could provide that.

    • Decent laser for the price.
If your new definitely go with a brand that is widely used. You will need to make some serious modifications to get this laser to work properly to receive the results you want. New steppers, new belts, new mother board. Spend the extra money and get something a little better. 7/7/2022 The company has reached out and they are sending new things to fix the problem. After I have installed the new items I will update. They get 2 stars for reaching out and trying to fix the problem. Not for the actual product. Yet. 8/13/22 After receiving some replacement parts from the company and installing. The laser is working to an acceptable level. Thanks everyone at smernit for your assistance. ... show more

I bought this machine as a beginner and it was easy to set up and use. There was a bit of a learning curve, but after a couple of tries, I was able to easily upload and engrave a piece of wood. I got this because I am intrigued by this type of machine and what it can do. I am new to laser engraving. I am not new to the concept of CNC machines since I have a degree in machine tool technology and I love to craft. I understand the basic idea of how this works. I am reviewing it at the moment because I can see it’s going to take some time for me to get this machine onto a safe level table where I can run it safely. I am waiting for a metal sheet my friend has for me to protect my tabletop from any possible damage. Unfortunately at the moment snow, ice and cold are preventing her from getting this to me. It may be a month or more when things thaw a little so I can get the table fixed. When the set-up is complete I will update this review. It’s an unanticipated personal issue with my space and nothing to do with the machine. If it works as I hope I won’t need to change the 5 stars I am giving it today. I do feel I need to get a review into the system so I don’t get too far behind on my commitment, so am telling you what I do know about it at this time. My son came to visit and was delighted to assist assembling the machine. It took him about half an hour to 45 minutes to do this following the clear instructions. He too is excited to see how it works. I have downloaded the software and read the instructions. It looks pretty straightforward to me. As long as the software works as designed I believe it’s going to be awesome. I really like that there is a protective shield on the laser. The set up block seems like a very good method to find zero. I am glad there are a couple test items included with the engraver. I can hardly wait to see how it runs so I can let you know how it goes for this newbie. UPDATE: Love it! Ok, still haven't used it a lot, but my son and I played with it and had a great time with our first "burn". I look forward now to a lot more sessions when I can make things, and it's so good to enjoy time with my grown son too. The machine worked great and we need to play with the speeds and feeds to get the results we are looking for. We were going too slow and it cut deeper than we expected. It was great to actually see it work. I do think I will try to get a compatible longer cord to hook up to my computer. I do not have a laptop so the space is a little cramped. ... show more

I was a bit apprehensive when I ordered this laser engraver because I did not recognize the name. It arrived nicely packaged and with great assembly instructions. It was easily assembled with the included tools in about 30 minutes. It is very simple and sturdy construction from proven designs that have worked well for other machines of this type. The interface is intuitive and pretty simple to follow. The software installation could use a lot of work however. This ships with older versions of the software included on the micro sd card. I would suggest going online and downloading the newest versions of this software. They want you to install custom buttons in laser grbl however the link they give you to the custom buttons is broken. Not a big deal since I am already familiar with lightburn software and have a license for it already. I would suggest lightburn because you will be better off in the long run and has way more features than laser grbl. My first couple burns were not great. It took me some time to figure out the proper speed and power settings. They do give you some recommend ones in the manual just realize they are giving you mm per min most software is looking for mm per sec. Once the settings were dialed in this laser can engrave just as well as any other laser with the same wattage. One other thing to note is do not bother with the mks app for your phone. For me it is broken and does not work. You can connect and control the laser but when you upload a file to burn it always fails. Overall this is a pretty good laser that is easy to assemble and works well. Just be aware it might take you a while to get it dialed in. ... show more
