I thought that 10% of your body weight is a good place to start for a weighted blanket. Without disclosing too much personal information, I believe I am within the threshold with a 25-pound blanket. I have not been able to sleep a full night with this thing. I feel trapped. I wish I would have ordered a 10 pound and worked my way up to a 25 pound but here I am with a heavy blanket that feels more like 50 pounds to move than 25. I also think that I might have benefitted by getting a smaller size (twin or full as opposed to queen); it is just me under here so I do not need 300 miles of blanket. I did not return the item because it is too heavy to move. I cannot imagine trying o put it back in the bag and the box and haul it to the UPS store. I am worn out just thinking about it. As for now, it is balled up on the corner of my bed and I roll it around to change the sheets underneath like one would a person in a hospital bed. I do like the material it is made out of though. I am fussy about sheets, blankets, washcloths, and towels; anything that touches my skin has to be soft, and if it pills it goes to the garbage. Amazing! the very first time my husband and I slept under this blanket was Friday going on Saturday and we both slept like babies. my husband overslept for work. Your body completely relaxes. i just wish we got a little heaver one. While this blanket is very comfortable the weight is all over the place and not in a good way. There are several columns that are pretty much empty in a row. So much of this blanket is missing weight. In order to get the weight evenly "distributed" i have to fold it in half. Kinda defeats the purpose of getting a king size blanket for my bed if I can't utilize it for the whole bed. The blanket as a whole is great. We bought the king size for a queen bed. A lot of reviews had mentioned it's slipping off the bed if it was oversized but we haven't had much trouble with this at all! If you're someone that layers blankets having this against your top sheet should prevent from any slippage
