  • Solid performer, cuts most small limbs like butter, long battery life
Very impressed by this well built, lightweight and powerful 12" chainsaw. Needed to clear several small trees and large shrubs and break them all down into fire logs and debris. This chainsaw tackled all the types of wood effortlessly, with girths of from one inch to a maximum of 6-7 inch trunks and limbs. The battery lasted from a full charge throughout three days working, it only needed charging after all was said and done. Easy to use, well balanced, self lubricating with a built-in chain oil reservoir, and easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble the chain and transport after use. Also has a dial to easily tighten and loosen the chain as necessary. And the safety brake between the handle area and chainsaw itself adds another level of protection to avoid accidents. Highly recommend this impressive chainsaw, it does the job and keeps on going. ... show more

  • A Pleasant Surprise!
I have a row of hybrid poplars that were planted too close to the power lines, so the power co. topped them. This caused branches to grow out from the trunk; they then grew parallel to the ground and then up. I was using a pole saw to trim the branches when they got close to the power lines. Using a pole saw was strenuous, tedious and time consuming. With the Skil Power Core I could cut the branches off at the trunk. It allowed me to saw off branches that were way above my head. I trimmed all fifteen trees so well my neighbors commented on how nice they looked. I used the saw for three weeks. The battery lasted long enough each day to wear me out. The saw cut far better than I expected, and I loved how quiet it was. (Believe it or not, I did all the cutting with my right arm because my left shoulder is paralyzed.) Maintenance is a snap and can be done with no tools. Just add bar chain oil and tighten the chain before each use and it's good to go. I have three pole saws and two regular chainsaws and the Skill Power Core is now my favorite. No mixing gas or manipulating an eight foot pole around. The saw's a feat of technical engineering. Best of all, it paid for itself after one project. ... show more

  • Quick chain brake, and lightweight make it easy to use
I am using this as a trim saw, and for smaller trees. I really appreciate the lightweight and rapid chain brake as it makes it easier and safer to use in confined cutting spaces. The batteries have individual charge level display that turned out to be something I found pretty useful. The charger is not as fast as some other brands, and it comes with mounting slots for wall mounting the charger. There is no fan in the charger which might explain the slightly slower charging. If you are trying to do continuous cutting, you will need spare batteries and chargers to keep up. The chain oiler seems to work well, the bar and chain are up to the usual Oregon standard, i.e. great. The chainsaw comes with fancy hanger. I'm not convinced how strong or durable the hanger is, and we shall see how much oil leaks out, as the saw hangs bar and oil reservoir down. ... show more

  • Really awesome chainsaw!
This chainsaw is top tier for cutting considering the price and how it cuts! If u make make wedges in the tree this thing will cut some pretty big limbs! After hurricane milton cat 3 hurricane (which was terrifying) I cut like 5 whole trees on about 3 or 4 full charges. I didn’t time it but I’d say on a full charge u can get about 1.5 hours maybe a little longer.. which is all I wanna use it at one time lol depending on the tree size. Also U can tighten the chain with the 2 knobs on the side without even removing the chain which is a nice feature! U will have to remove the chain occasionally bc the sawdust gets caught in between where the bar oil dispenses but that’s normal. U can see in the attached pictures of the trees it does pretty good. I even cut some a little bigger but didn’t get a pic … if u need a good little reliable chainsaw this is the one! ... show more

  • Great chainsaw!
I got this to compare with my dewalt 20v 12” chainsaw. This is very comparable in feel and performance. Chain speed is about the same. Advantage over dewalt is the cost and I like the tightening setup for the bar better, the dewalt is too flimsy. Disadvantage is that you don’t have the dewalt mega batteries that probably give more power. (Flexvolt 9/12a) With the 4ah battery, I can get it to slow down in green wood, but it never stopped. Battery lasts a reasonable amount of time. I had to stop when my chain dulled, from hitting soil. You can tell your chain is full if you stop getting chips. It comes with a branded Oregon chain, see picture. It. Will fit a 16” bar, see image. Would recommend if you are using it for yard cleanup. I picked this over larger saws because it is a nice compact size that is in between a top handle and a rear handle saw. ... show more

  • Lite Weight
I have 2 gas powered saws. One medium and one large 24" bar. The large one is new. I needed a larger saw for some trees that Helena blew over. At 65 I was not looking forward to limbing them with either of the saws I have. Getting a lite gas powered saw is not easy, and it is expensive. So I gave it a try. Glad I did. It is the perfect tool for limbing and small jobs. It cuts even hardwood up to 6" with little effort. I did upgrade the chain which helped also. So lite you can use it with one hand if need be. The battery also lasted longer than expected. Does not leak oil when not in use that I can see. Great addition. Was able to limb 2 20" pines with alot less effort and back strain. For the money I see it as a great value. ... show more
