I have always used Rockford Fosgate Amps and Fosgate, Orion, Sundown,or JL Audio subs for builds. I heard of Skar recently and started reading about their products. Great prices, but I was skeptical. I decided to try them out. I purchased and installed a single EVL-12" 2ohm sub and wired it to 1ohm. I was running a single Fosgate P3D212" 600rms previously and it has high SQ, but could use a little more low bump. I replaced the sub and used the same amp with the Skar ported enclosure that I was using with the P3D212. They have similar volume specs. The amp I used for break-in was a 800W @1ohm Fosgate class bd and it was way underpowered for the Skar EVL @ 1,250rms. They are power hungry. I have sice replaced the amp with the Skar RP-1200.1. Huge difference with the right power. The EVL hits harder and delivers frequencies that the P3D212 just wouldn't hit. I am pleased, but the neighbors aren't. I have been running the Fosgate amp and P3D212 for about 2 years. The amp and P3 are great products. I boxed them up for my stepsons car. If the EVL and RP-1200.1 lasts that long I will be sold on Skar being high quality products at a phenomenal price. I have been running it for 8 months now without any issues. Was skeptical at first but skar audio is really good for the price everything they sell is of high quality and the sound is top notch I have an evl 12 in my Tahoe and it knocks along with their 6.5 door speakers and super tweeters the sound quality is great will definitely be doing more setups with skar audio Update: I installed some skar audio 6x9s in some enclosures under my back seat and the clarity is awesome along with the 4 6.5s and super tweeters ... show more

Sub sounds excellent. Nice solid bass, Def for 50hz and lower. Against the zvx 8 which I had pushed past its limit. * ( which silicone repaired to foam surround made hit harder) awesome speaker. For deep clean bass I'd take the evl series mainly for the price point. And quality of skar. Few things i thought i saw on zvx but not evl. Was very minimal. Basically no liquid electric tape on the housing cage screws. And the terminals heat shrink was not heated yet. Both simple diy. Sub fit perfect and I like the actual design for ease of fitment better than the zvx. The wire terminals are in a better spot imo. Both evl and zvx lines are excellent speakers no complaints with skar to date with my personal experiences. Keep up good work. If you are reading this at the moment and you are still trying to find a sub then stop and order one ! I have had all the big brand speakers and I was a JL guy for years because they are great speakers and you can't deny that but times have changed and so have the Subs. The days of spending 600$ a sub to get that bone rattling , earth shattering bass are over and I couldn't be happier!! When deciding on what brand I was going to get to get that quality sound I have to admit that it took me a while researching specs and watching videos. My friend told me to go with Sundown which are nice speakers for he has them in his car and I was impressed the first time I heard them but also my co worker has American Bass and DC audio in his cars and it had me going through all kinds of research and reading review after review when I came across this company Skar that immediately grabbed my attention because I really didn't want to have the same exactly subs as my friends so although I was a bit skeptical after hrs deciding I ordered one which arrived in 3 days and I was impressed by the quality of these subs just from looks alone. Everything on this sub showed quality and I was ready to get a amp and here them. I decided on the Hifonics Brutus 4000.1 which I know isn't too good line like they used to be but didn't want to spend any more than 400$ so I ordered the amp and custom enclosure tuned 32Hz and when I finally got everything wired and cranked this Evl up my jaw dropped and the smile on my face was priceless...This Skar sub blew my mind as well as the competition subs that I have heard before.I couldn't be happier with my system and I am a Skar fan for life and anyone who is having trouble deciding what sub to purchase then look no further!!! ... show more
