I was in the market for a sewing machine. Being I grew up with Singer I figured I'd try this touch screen one considering the competition prices. First off, finding reviews and forums and just general things about this specific model is hard to do. Even trying to find this on the singer website was hard to find. When I got the unit sadly it was dead on arrival. Turned on but that was it. I've been hearing the days of Singer being a good brand are gone. So sadly I will need to go back to the drawing board and search again for another one. I was excited about this machine too with the videos I did find online. It looks very promising. Item arrived and I was so excited. Could not get it connected to the internet because there was no”=“ sign on the screen for my password which was weird. They it would not cut the lower stitch n bc like it is supposed to. I have a 9960 and love the cutting stitch feature. So with both of that I sent it back and purchased just and embroidery machine. ... show more

IN THEORY! it’s a great machine! All bells and whistles, user friendly, and a fantastic big screen easy to modify and adjust your design, the little time it works you get wonderful results! but you are up for whole new world of trouble! Each time you want to sew something you have to spend hours trying to fix the tension the bobbin case is badly designed it doesn’t catch the thread properly and the top thread always pulling up even when dialled to zero! And it’s up to you to figure it out DIY ways to tighten the bobbin thread! Contacted singer customer service they are of absolute no help! Contacted the seller their reply was at best dissatisfactory. So sad and disappointing being an owner of singer Quantum I expected this to be as good but it’s far from it. ... show more

I purchased this machine looking to get into embroidery as a fun craft. This machine I thought would be a good place to start because it's a Singer and it had some pretty interesting features with it. I couldn't have been more wrong this machine was an absolute nightmare. I worked with it for weeks trying to figure out how to make it work reliably to no avail. Now I have it a fair chance I was using embroidery thread, needles and proper weight Bobin thread. I also experimented with several different types of stabilizers. This machine was constantly breaking threads, breaking needles, creating massive tangles under the bobin plate. On several occasions during a re-threading after a thread break or resetting the bobin the machine would start to continue the project but it would jump alignment, and continue the stitch pattern in the wrong locations. Furthermore Singer ship's this complexe new machine with absolutely no user manual so you don't even have something to reference when you have problems. And Singer was absolutely no help whatsoever I tried on multiple occasions to contact Singers customer service for help. They even have an option to download user manuals on their website however when you enter the machines model number to get the manual it says no files exist for this product. I got so fed up one night trying to stitch a simple word on a towel after four failed attempts I wanted to throw the machine out in the backyard. It was at that point I decided to try to send it back for a refund thankfully Amazon helped me with this. Since then I have purchased a Brother SE630 embroidery machine it was half the price of this Singer although with less embroidery patterns and features. It works amazingly I have been successful with all sorts of embroidery projects this machine just works I haven't had any of the problems I had with the SE9180. It’s a great sewing and embroidery machine, but every time I try to do the automatic thread it won’t work it was doing it in the beginning, but after a couple of times doing it it just won’t do it no more that’s my only problem with it.
