I was hoping this semi-clear color would be more transparent. It more like white milky color that you can kind of see the background. Other than the color, it's been working great. No melting so far on our stainless steel stove top. We did have to cut for a better fit but the material was very flexible to do so. I had bought these gap covers, 2 years ago at Walmart for $10 a peice and I'm so glad I found these! They are not perfect but does the job very wall and at a affordable price. Also I don't know why people think they are "Crystal Clear", they are Semi Transparent or "Semi Crystal Clear", which gives it a frost look and to me, they look fine. I got these to replace some home made metal ones that were here when we bought out house. I remember seeing them and thinking wow what a smart idea, then i found these babies and was shocked by how badly i wanted them. once i finally gave in and ordered them i was so excited upon arrival. I did have to trim them to size but they but real easy and it now looks amazing. I can toss them in the dish washer and they are like brand new. so far nothing has stained them. The vinyl material is sturdy and needs to be molded into place. So far, it is working well. It is nonslip and items on top of it stay in placed also. I had a magnetic one in the past and think it worked a little better.
