I purchased this machine to do small amounts of sewing when needed. The price was good so that it could be stored away and you wouldn't feel like you had invested a lot of money in it. I found that the instructions are not real good and they are complicated. If you purchased this for your child, it might be difficult for them to learn, unless you spent considerable time with them. However, it does seem to work. You have to be very careful with lower bobbin. It can get out of line very easily and then the upper thread will not pick up the lower thread. This sewing machine is fantastic for small sewing projects and was very easy to learn and use. It is TINY though so with that if you overload it, the machine will have issues. I was able to do about 6 small projects with it flawlessly but when I tried to do a bigger project with thicker material the machine was struggling. The bottom spool is now out of place and I think I can fix it but because the machine is so small it’s a bit of a challenge trying to get in there. The entire machine is about the size of a soccer ball so easy for beginners but definitely recommend sticking to smaller projects with this one. ... show more

I bought this because my other sewing machine is a bit too much for my daughter who is a beginner. I first tested this out to make sure everything was working on it. I did read the instructions before using and following the instructions did help when it came to setting this up and getting started. The one I have was ready to go out of the box. This one kind of is but I did have to see how to load thread and get it started. Once everything was loaded and ready to go, I just used some fabric scraps to sew together and this sewing machine was able to sew just as fast and efficient as my expensive sewing machine. What I truly found helpful is that even though we have this set up on a foldable table, the extended table piece that comes with this sewing machine really helps whether you have a big table or not. Even with me using this, I noticed it gives you that extra arm space for moving fabric. Teaching her how to sew on this was not only easier but this sewing machine is really easy to use. Changing the different stitching styles is really easy to change and it comes with everything needed to get started except fabric. Really great for people who are wanting to learn how to sew and even for me, I found this really easy to use and while I'm good, I'm not an expert, but this sewing machine makes your stitches look professional. No matter what her and I have made with this sewing machine, the only way you're going to undo those stitches is if you cut them. ... show more

This little sewing machine was great and a pretty good size but the only thing that is unfortunate is I couldn't back stitch and I don't mind not having different stitches but the only stitch you can do it a straight stitch. The light isn't super bright but works pretty well still, and the material that comes with it is a great variety! ... show more

I used it for the first time yesterday. I honestly won't recommend this for a beginner. It does not have reverse function, so you will have to lift the foot and turn the piece to do a reverse. The piece will come apart or at least lose some stitches without it, so I think it is a necessary function. The on/off button starts the sewing, and it is FAST, even setting in low. It actually startled me a little. It will run with the foot in raised position, which I think it is a safety issue. You can control the speed using the foot pedal. That being said, I will buy this machine again. It came with the threads already set up and you can literally start sewing right out of the box. It sews pretty well, once you get use to it. And can't really ask for too much with this price. Threading seems simple and straight forward. Pretty powerful for such a tiny machine. I like that it has a power cord and battery option if you want to take it to go. Very small and lightweight. The accessories that came with it are useful. Will give 5 stars with reverse option. ... show more
